u can try Chaleena Hotel. very nice and affortable.... Ramkhamhaeng is a university area. lots of student and lots of muslim hawker stall there.... but very far to city and jam too (around 1.30hrs). but i think u can use " boat taxi" to city.

the one like sampan la (motorboat).... melalui sungai (actually it's longkang busuk" kakakakka
but Ramkhamhaeng is near to Chatucak (within 30 min)

you could check it out, just don't wear a skirt if you're going in to soi 4 (nana tai), i've seen foreign guys lifting skirts

Just pray hard-lah. & ask the driver to use the Northern Highway & bypass Bangna-Bangkok jam area. U probably wanted the driver to use The Bangkok Chonburi Highway on the North of the airport instead to Bangkok 1st & thereafter to Mo Chit. This xpressway will bypass Bangkok & infact cut the travelling time & distance substantially. (From 40km using Bangna>Bangkok>Mo Chit to only 25KM using the Northern corridor Highway. 

Things that cheap in Bangkok = Food (Avg 25-40bath only) & the Chinatown sharkfin, fish maw- cheaper than Hatyai!, local souvenirs such as decorative table lamp, coconut husk souvenirs, shoes & local thai cotton shirt/pants.

Things that almost similar to Malaysia =Leather & handbags, T-shirts, shirts), handphone, PS games & imported branded fashionwares

Things that more expensive than Malaysia = Electronics (Atleast 20-30% more than M'sia!), Computers, imported clothings, & anything not produced in Thailand

yeah about 30 mins to clear everything and cabut from the airport normally. the old airport took forever the new one ok lah gak.

your timing seems good. although you probably lepak at the hotel for longer than 15 mins right? but thats just me. im lazy traveller. lask time went to HK with my bro. arrive 2pm. went to sleep until 7pm. hahahhahaha.

I will b going this July too, my second trip to Bkk! Went there August last year. Btw i got my ticket during zero fare and it cost only 180++ per pax two ways. Last trip stay in a guest house just opposite suan lum night market. Not really safe for girl but very near to mrt station. Girls can try to stay places like wat panasonic stay but not nana area..( red light district and a lot of arabs ) The best place for shopping for cheap stuff is still chatucat. Going to explore other place this trip. Bkk is a nice and easy place to go around unlike kl[COLOR=red].....
