Yo guys,

How do we read the power ratings of a speaker?

These in-ceiling speakers come in pair.

For NS-ICS600, it shows 20W x2, so i can get a 50W rated amplifier (speakers will be wired in parallel so 20W + 20W = 40W).

But i am confused with NS-ICS800. It shows 50W RMS. Does that mean 50W + 50W for both speakers wired in parallel? Or 25W + 25W? Not sure to buy 50W or 100W rated amplifier for this pair of speaker.

Thanks.
*
Wrong section to ask. This is a headphone thread
the 600 is a dual voicecoil speaker while the 800 is a single voicecoil speaker

Finally, my schiit heresy arrived!

Pairing with the recent topping E30. my dacx6 retires - i fried my ac adapter the other day.
My thoughts, using the HD6xx:

    - Vocals are cleaner and clearer
    - the shaping and imaging is superb - very fun to listen to
    - It's very clean! almost no hiss with IEM's (1-2%?) - noticeable hiss with the previous dacx6.
    - listening session is not so fatiguing compared to the dacx6
    - i hear stuffs i've never heard before - on familiar tunes.
    - so much juice left, over 11 o clock my ears will bleed.
Downside:

- they don't look the best - E30 is longer and the Heresy is wider . LoL
- the knob of the schiit amp turns smoothly, but I kinda miss the dacx6 clicky knob.
- the switch at the back of the heresy is kinda annoying ... need time to adapt
But overall, I'm very happy with the stack, it has brought me closer to my music more than ever.

I'll move it here since I just realize the other thread was headphone related rather than amp/dac lol.

More power is good as well, but I do prefer the heresy metal build, than the Atom plastic build. Seeing people saying the Atom does better for IEMs tho, might get the Atom instead at some point, if I'm aiming for a budget amp.

Next time I plan to get the Hugo2 tho if got more budget. Really impressed with my Chord Mojo. Buy used also ok rather than new lol.

yeah the matte black and smooth red looks great.

iems sounds great already on the heresy, at least to my untrained ears.

Do you bring the mojo for outdoors, or during transit o.O

Supposedly going to use it for on the go. Mostly travelling or balik kampung.
My cables and all still stuck somewhere so I can't really test it out on the go much since the stock cable for Focal Elear is rather long, huge and heavy.

Hi guys, i recently bought a pair of cheap bookshelf speakers for home workstation. I was wondering if there are any ways of using my old ipod classic as a player to listen to music instead of plugging in my laptop everytime (and connecting to the speakers via BT)?

In such cases, do i need a DAC that can connect to the ipod and speakers/ headphones? If yes, can anyone recommend a budget solution of not more than RM500? Thanks

Do you want to use Bluetooth or you don't?
Or you just want to leave your ipod classic connected to the speaker with cable there to play the music? (easiest solution but you have to leave your ipod there, you need to set playlist or it will be troublesome for music selection?)

You need streaming DAC if
1) Your bookshelf speaker doesn't have bluetooth input
2) You would like to connect your speaker using Bluetooth or Wifi from your device

Anything is possible with Bluetooth audio transmitter and receiver, the question is whether will that be necessary. You can connect your ipod classic with a Bluetooth audio transmitter, and your speaker with a Bluetooth audio receiver. In that case, you can play your music from ipod classic "wirelessly".

Just curious, do you have recommendation for a good BT audio transmitter and receiver?

Hi all, I've been eyeing on the ifi Zen for quite some time already, would like to ask some opinion regarding it.

- Unbalanced vs Balanced

1) Why does this 2 ports exist together? Do I really have to test it out see which one suit my liking? (the answer seems obvious but I'd like to hear more opinion)

2) If my earphone(TIN T2) has "Unbalanced feature", which require to change a whole new MMCX cable, is it worth the change? (Take the Fiio LC-B series as example, which is around RM170-ish)

2.1) I also have another headphone(SHP9500), so my another question is, instead of spending RM170-ish for my T2 MMCX cable, or can I actually settle for a better 3.5mm-6.5mm adapter so that I can use on both of my unit. (is there such a thing as "better" 3.5mm-6.5mm adapter anyway)

That's about it basically.

Thanks in advance.

Can't answer why but on balanced, the sound is more alive. i bought a 3.5mm to 4.4mm balanced adapter. got my zen dac from Jaben and i asked them for a 3.5 - 6.5 adapter and they threw it in for free.

But if the headphone/IEM itself is unbalanced/single ended, it's not safe to be plugged into a balanced jack such as the Pentacon balanced jack on the Zen, right? Even with an adapter. https://www.moon-audio.com/balanced-adapters-caution

You want to use Balanced you need to have Balanced cable, which will have separate wire for each side. Don't use adapter, it doesn't work that way. Those 1 side cable such as SHP9500 can't use Balanced.
