Bro, MAple Leaf and Swiss Pamp also seldom have stock at most UOB branches. Best place is HQ, call them and ask before going. And you'll need a UOB CASA as you can't use cash to buy the physical gold. If you got PB status, FREE parking smile.gif

To ALL:

Just to let you guys know, I'll be away and as such no updates to Post#1 until next month.

And before I go - kmarc and AVFAN, USD going up but the good news is AUD down and almost near to last January lows and 5 year low. Better start monitoring AUD.... my target 2.5 wink.gif

Petrol price at all time low - every barrel of crude oil produced from Malaysia oil fields right now is loosing money! In the last quarter on 2014, Petronas loss RM7.3B (USD90 to 54 per barrel that time). For Jan-Mac 2015 (crude oil per barrel around USD50), they made a surprised profit of RM11.4B. but today price of crude oil per barrel is at record lows (less than USD45/barrel - same like in 2008 when we got a recession).

How long is the coming recession going to last this time? God knows. But one thing for sure, get ready for September to October months and if nothing major happens, I guess we will be out of recession pretty quick. But if this coming recession is going to be long (like 5 years), those with Cash in hand will get to accumulate assets at low prices and will be making tons of money when our economy recovers (so will those with landed property but can't say the same for gold).

right, i hedged >1 year ago. still have some fd, though. and i hv yet to commit to the aud! laugh.gif

yes, i see see tough times ahead too. an economy does not auto recover by doing nothing or big mouth talk.

if not careful, 4q2015 might see little gdp growth or even contraction.

crude, bursa, rm... very dicey in the coming months, everyone has own thoughts about them.

brace yourselves! tongue.gif

Sifu,

How you hedge ? Can share share ?  drool.gif

well, i actually mean diversification.

i spread my blood sweat and tears over several vehicles, several currencies.

rm - fd, frnid
sgd - sgx reits
usd - us stocks, etf's

nothing in bursa, no unit trusts, no private retirement funds, no funds supermart.

nothing exotic that can't be done by anyone in msia.

basically, that's it! biggrin.gif

there are many threads on the broad subject - rm, sgx, us stocks, etf's.

Yah, AUD now also strengthen against MYR even tho it is weakening against USD!!!

What I observe is - % increase/decrease in USD/MYR + % increase/decrease in AUD/USD = net % increase/decrease in AUD/MYR

Say USD/MYR +1.2% but AUD/USD -0.2% you will get net +1% AUD/MYR

But Bro, if you can convert directly USD to AUD, you will have lots of AUD  wink.gif Or if buy AUD now, in the future when it strengthen will have lots of USD. But what we want end of the day is Ringgit, hahaha

will keep monitoring.
