Hi Everyone
I just bought Panasonic inverter Deluxe X series A/C and then my installer say Inverter A/C need extra charges for installation because need to include somethin called "Hak Foh" in cantonese, the extra charges is RM125 per A/C. Does this makes any sense? I thought regardless Inverter or Non-inverter they were the same rate.
BTW the unit I want to install is just a <1000sqft Condo

QUOTE(fireballs @ Oct 10 2021, 10:24 AM) They are referring to additional wire for inverter control. Hakfor = neutral cable in contractor speak. Price reference 2.5mm2 mega cable 100m is rm120 1.5mm2 100m is rm80 Thanks for the input, means they simply overcharging at a possibly 10m cable at the rate 100m which is 1000% increase in price

QUOTE(ceo684 @ Oct 13 2021, 02:10 AM) That is true. Extra wiring cost only..no additional hacking required. Is there actually compulsory to have this extra wiring for Inverter for Panasonic X-Deluxe series?

QUOTE(ceo684 @ Oct 13 2021, 06:21 PM) It's good to wear your seatbelt. Without it you have no earth on a high power metal casing motor Like this lah. You buy the materials ie. cable, Ask the installer to agree to add in urs as 4th wire together. Since their quoted price is for 3 wire. I asked Panasonic dealer, they have consulted with their Installer say it is not needed But the installer from my Developer say need for Inverter

QUOTE(ceo684 @ Oct 16 2021, 08:38 PM) Taking it out from low level (ODU easy access no need ladder) and they get to keep it or scrap it should be FOC unless its a hard to access area. Taking it down and old AC custody remains with customer about there. Nowadays HOT weather AC installer in demand..price also follow together. Well if he's doing it right with 4-wire IDU-ODU connection it is OK pricing. Out of curiosity, what is the function of the 4th wire with vs without? Because the Panasonic dealer I approached says this is not needed after he consult with his installer

QUOTE(Max @ Oct 18 2021, 06:49 PM) I do think the ODU still got 'earth' thru the copper piping. IDU will earth from incoming supply, just the ODU doesn't get proper earth cable. This open up my mind, seems just like concept on car grounding, parts were grounded because they were connected to each other through metal parts, but may not be the most efficient route compared to doing proper grounding point.

QUOTE(Jerrylum88 @ Oct 18 2021, 08:37 PM) I need some help picking the right model, im looking for air-conditioner for 2 small rooms, around 140 square feet with 12 feet height ceiling, windows facing north west. Currently have 3 models in mind, either Daikin FTKU, Panasonic X-Deluxe and Mitsubishi JS series, which one should i get in terms of reliability and clean air? and how many horsepower should i need while the temperature will be setting in between 23 to 25" Celsius . For clean air I would suggest get a separate air purifier, it will help reduce dust in the room and also less frequent cleaning needed for the a/c filter & cooling coil.
