Hi, anyone has experience of using a Fresh Air Aircon that can suck air from outside the room and also exhaust dirty air in the room toward outside?
In China Market, this type of aircon known as 新风冷气机.
Already not new over there but quite new in our Malaysia market.

Sample aircon are (TCL Fresh In series) and Hisense R32 Inverter Aircon with Fresh Air

I am interested to install in my room but heard that the installation process is more complicated than the normal aircon because got an extra pipe for air intake and exhaust.
Saw a buyer review in Shopee saying that even their installer don't know how to install it.

Also curious on how good is this type of aircon, especially on below aspect
- ability to remove odor in the room
- maintain the humidity level of the room (because suck moisture fresh air outside the room)
- power consumption of the aircon (since this aircon suck and exhaust air, will it consume more power to maintain cool air)?

Hope someone can share their experience with me.
Thanks

Interesting, but first time hearing it. But I guess the concept similar to our car AC, where we can select inner circular air our outer air for circulation.

Personally I dont like outer air, as I feel its more polluted! hahaha, its just me.

I will let others to comment to those have used it or know about it.

The outer air will be purified with hepa filter before enter your room. 😉

I was considering the TCL Fresh Air series but the price is on the high side.

1) ability to remove odor in the room
- Logically I don't see how this would work. You want a closed system where the air in the room stays the same while being purified by charcoal filter either from your aircond or a purifier unit. Everytime you introduce fresh air in, the air will be sucked into the aircond unit and needs to be purified by the charcoal filter which does not guarantee odour free air. It is much better to let the air in the room stay constant without "fresh" air and let the charcoal filters do their work.

2) maintain the humidity level of the room (because suck moisture fresh air outside the room)
- Might be better to have humidifier device in your room or some airconds may have humidifying function?

3) power consumption of the aircon (since this aircon suck and exhaust air, will it consume more power to maintain cool air)?
- Definitely will consume more power. You want your room to stay at constant temperature so that the inverter unit will slow down the compressor just enough to maintain temperature. If you introduce fresh air, the hot air now needs to be cooled down which then makes the compressor works harder......you get the idea smile.gif

The plus point I see with such designs is that if you have health conditions such as asthma or difficulty breathing in a small space for long hours (you hardly open close doors) or if your house ventillation is really terrible that you would need "fresh" air in the room.

Hey,
thanks for writing long reply to share ur opinion with me 😀
My room is a close up area and with proper door sealing.

1) ability to remove odor in the room
Regarding to this, I do have air purifier with charcoal filter in my room but don't think it really effective in ordor removal. Plus charcoal will get saturated after a while.
Actually remove ordor just one of the plus point for me to get rid of the air purifier. (Not throwing it away. Just moving it to another room 😛)
The main point is the concept of fresh air can bring in filtered air rich in oxygen into the room and reduce co2 level in the room. Borrowed an air monitor meter from a friend and test in a closed room. The Co2 level indeed quite high after hours. High concentration of co2 in a closed area can lead to health issue 🙂

2) maintain the humidity level of the room (because suck moisture fresh air outside the room)

I do have humidifier as well. Just thinking if having this type of aircon, maybe I can get rid of the humidifier.

3) power consumption of the aircon (since this aircon suck and exhaust air, will it consume more power to maintain cool air)?

In normal circumstances, yes this type of aircon will surely consume more power.
Based TCL fresh air aircon website, it should have some Heat Exchange concept on the aircon.
This heat exchange technology is quite common on Fresh Air system. It transfers heat from outgoing air to incoming fresh air, pre-cooling or pre-heating it, which can save energy and improve indoor air quality.
Anyhow, this heat exchange is just a ads on TCL website, not really sure how effective is it in saving energy.
That's why I hope someone with this aircon can share with me 😉
Hope to know more on the installation part too.

So, your room is really sealed tightly and you spend long hours in the room without opening the doors/windows. I do really think the new "fresh air" feature would really suit you

As for the charcoal filter in the aircond (if any) you would still need to replace it. Honestly, I doubt it will be as big and effective as a dedicated one in a purifier. Which purifier are you using btw?

Yup. Seal tightly. Won’t go out when I sleep haha….
I spend long hours in the room to work too.
Not sure is there any charcoal filter in the Fresh air Aircon hepa filter.
But theoretically the TCL aircon can “breath” by sucking in fresh air from outside and exhaust dirty air from the room.
So “by right”, this air exchange should can maintain the room humidity, bring in fresh air from outside, expel dirty air from the room and reduce the stuffy air in the room.

I not yet installed the TCL Fresh In.
Hope to hear feedback on existing owner.
Is that really as good as what they advertise and how is the installation part?
Need to dig another hole on the wall or need to enlarge existing aircon hole?

I’m using Xiaomi Air purifier smile.gif

Hi, not sure if u still interested with this TCL Fresh In AC,
I notice there is a sales of TCL Fresh In 2.0 when pass by TCL Sunway Pyramid store last week.

So far, I only see similar pricing on Lazada/Shopee for this model during big sales like 6.6
