2.5hp Full size cassette with inverter I think hard to beat this. Yes for this size have to see R410 clearance coz R32 cassette cost a bomb
Price performance pretty good

RM2929 York 2.5HP 26500btu Johnson Controls DC Inverter Ceiling Cassette YCK5J Series YCK5J25AAS (https://www.lazada.com.my/products/stock-limited-york-25hp-johnson-controls-dc-inverter-ceiling-cassette-yck5j-series-yck5j25aas-ysm5j25aas-r410a-i518496571-s7504794276.html)

PANASONIC INVERTER R410 BIG CASSETTE S-21PU2H5 will cost RM3910.

For this huge size inverter is a must.. You can save the 800 or so on non inverter but OPEX (TNB bill) will milk you slowly.

----------

2.0 hp inverter (18k btu)
can consider
HITACHI RAS-DX18CJ 17,060 (3,070-19,791)BTU/h RM3,319 R32 2/10wty
Sharp R32 J-Tech Inverter AHX18VED 18000Btu (5450 - 18760Btu) RM2,769 R32 1/5wty
Panasonic 2HP X-Deluxe Inverter Wall R32 CS-XPU18WKH 19,000 (3,750-21,200) Btu/h RM2,639 R32 1/5wty
MSY-JS18VF (2.0HP) 17,742 (5,118 - 19,448) RM2,660 R32 2/7wty
Sharp 2.0HP J- Tech Inverter Air Conditioner AHX18UED 17100 (5120 - 18800) RM2,188 R410 1/5wty

I have been reading your airconds recommendations, thanks for the great recommendations so far!

I would like to have a cassette aircond recommendation as well, but I have a rather niche requirement.

1. Preferably 2.0HP, but am willing to go from 1.5HP to 2.5HP.
2. Inverter
3. R32 is a plus, but R401A is fine as well.
4. Must be WIFI internet enabled to be remotely control via App. Or smart control, for lack of better term.

The reason for the the smart/internet requirement is because I would like to integrate the aircond into my smart home system. As long as it has a somewhat open API, I can tape it into my home assistant network. Besides, my family member have tendency to leave the aircond on when they leave the house.

I have experience with Panasonic WIFI control (Smart Cloud), but it is a wall mounted unit.

Thanks!

Daikin FFR15C (1.5hp) R410 inverter will be a good starting point. Needs optional wifi module AWM61A01
https://www.lazada.com.my/products/free-gif...6462648316.html

About RM 2669 + another 110 for the wifi module + installation estimate at 250-300 up.
It should come with 2 years premium cloud + revert to free version after that if not mistaken.

List of retrofits for Daikin series here : https://www.daikin.com.my/smart-control/

----

Else the Acson 2hp non inverter btu spec is on point (18500btu). ACSON A5CK20F-WIFI
https://shopee.com.my/ACSON-A5CK20F-WIFI-A5...6337.7855043986

Sizing also depending on your room space (including ceiling height) and how do you use the AC at (if set at 16C all day then no diff between inv and non inv) vs (25C nominal then get inverter will be more comfortable feeling, less stuffy).

----

Cassette AC with Wifi control kinda limited selection. Mostly Daikin, Pana, and Acson models are common in the market.

Thanks for the reply!

Do you have recommendation for Panasonic? Say if I relax the requirements a bit and can go without inverter? I have researched the Daikin's, but apparently for Malaysian shore(Oversea Daikin has different WIFI module), it has a closed API for the WIFI control as it is being locked behind the premium Cloud subscription (Paid premium to buy the aircond still need to pay for subscription shakehead.gif ). I have experience with Pana and can confirm I can tape into the WIFI API without restriction.

Thanks once again!

I am using Panasonic in my house and I have both inverter & non-inverter. If you want comfort when using the AC, I would highly recommend to buy the inverter one. Non-inverter ones are normally comes with very basic specs which might not be comfortable enough for some people. For example, my non-inverter comes with 3 speed fan, even in "quiet" mode, it is still noisy. My inverter AC on the other hand, is quieter than the "quite" mode in non-inverter at the lowest speed (5 speed altogether).

Yes if I am given a choice I will definitely go for Inverter. The situation I have right now is I have a very niche requirement of WIFI enabled airconds for the smart home system. Hence willing to compromise on other aspects. Thanks anyway.

Most panasonic inverter models can be installed with WIFI receiver with additional RM200++ (I might be wrong on the price).

I am looking for cassette model though.

What is with the current aircond shortage? Supply chain issue due to MCO?

Hi sifus, my house has only 10ft ceiling height before the plaster, but I would like to install cassette aircond without sacrificing the height too much. I was told by the contractor that the minimum clearance is 1ft.

Anyone know which brand & model has the lowest/minimum ceiling clearance, for a 1.5/2.0hp cassette? Thank you.

There is this Aircon contractor who called himself Edward Lau, phone number 0126522639.

Terrible terrible workmanship, attitude and service. He will first over promise and assure you everything is fast and easy job, take 80% deposit. After that nightmare will comes.

1. Never ever on time. Promise 10, come at 1. My condo only allows noisy job until 2, and he always decide to come late only to do an half-done job, and blame the condo rules.
2. Visit for one day, leave job hanging and disappear for 2 days, come for another day. Rinse and repeat. Promised 3 days job become 2 weeks job.
3. Terrible workmanship, cut off multiple existing wiring at the compressor area for multiple new units, come back couple weeks later but couldn't remember how to reconnect back now due to messy wire.
4. One of the job is to move an aircond to another area, he broke the clips during dismantling.
5. Hack wall and leave the mess for owner to clean.
6. MIA now after realizing his own work is a mess, been trying to call him for 3 days. I have to hire another technician to finish the shitty job for me, more cost.

I can go on and on. All in all, terrible contractor, borderline scammer, avoid at all cost unless you want ruin your house. 0126522639
