i have a panasonic aircon. i use it once a week. after using for 11 months (from date of purchase), the fuse on the main (indoor) unit circuit board blown (as told by panasonic technician). after pcb replacement, everything was ok until today (4 months later), the aircon is not working. i think it is the same problem.

before the panasonic, i had a toshiba. it went dead too, hence i changed it to panasonic.

any idea what could be the culprit?
is this a common panasonic aircon defect?

Non inverter or inverter?

Cause not longer in good quality anymore.
*
cheapest model, non inverter.
u mean panasonic quality has deteriorated?

You got to ask the technician what cause the board spoil. Without detail answer, you can't find the solution.

Without finding the root problem, change any aircon will be the same.
*
he's not very sure but he said it could be the incoming power supply. he told me to pull out the power plug when the aircon is not in used (which is what i've practiced for last 4 months).

if the incoming power supply is not stable, why it didn't fry the rest of my electrical appliances like fridge and computer?

The possible cause is your aircond power line share with others power line. In that case, some devices that consist of inductor/choke at the supply input circuitry (could be poorly design circuitry) could release a huge amount of energy when switch ON-OFF transient, which flow into the device that connected parallel with it and broken the fuse.

In your case, you can ask technician to check for your aircond, if let say is the fuse blow again, advise you install a new power line from your fuse box solely supply to your aircond.
*
the only other component that switch on and off is the fridge in the kitchen, but that is on another circuit breaker. can this be a factor?

In order for cicuit board to fail, you need over voltage, that's the normal thing.
Is it properly fused? Did you ask someone to measure voltage on the plugs? Typical is 240-250V.
*
what do you mean properly fused? as usual, there is a main circuit breaker.
i did some measurement, notice something weird:

when cb is closed:
wall switch open (off) = 0vac
wall switch close (on) = 240vac
^ this seems normal

when cb is opened:
wall switch open (off) = 0vac
wall switch close (on) = 30vac
^ this is weird. why am i getting 30vac ?

this 30vac appears on the aircon power point and the other 2 points that share the same cb.

1.AC HP of Toshiba and Panasonic? Was Toshiba inherited as is or newly installed over an older AC with lower HP?
2. AC point newly added or existing?
3. What other circuitry shares the same fuse from the electrical db with the AC point? What's the fuse rating? This one needs the home manual from developer that shows circuitry if provided else need to test trip one by one to isolate. Question is whether it shares w other demanding appliance on the same circuit unbeknownst to you.
4. How old is the electrical cabling since before the AC was installed? Was it recently renovated and installed?
5. Location of the problematic AC compressors? Any sign of lightning activity striking the house even when AC not in use?
6. House location relative to others - how is powered distributed - this one more about voltage sag/dip but other components in the house could be affected as well besides the AC if this was the issue.
*
1. one horsepower. toshiba was inherited. it was an old model and operate fine previously. one day, it just died. panasonic replaced it later.
2. existing.
3. it only powers the aircon power point and 2 normal points in the living room (which is normally not used). fuse rating = 16A.
4. 25 years old
5. compressor is under the roof, protected from rain and sun. if there's sever thunderstorm, whenever there's lightning, 90% the main circuit breaker (the one that trips off the whole house power) will open-trip.

*also check out my measurement on post#1200.

Which aircon is the most quiet? Many have mentioned Panasonic, but I feel that it's not quiet enough (even with fan running at the lowest speed).

hello everyone. i have 2 questions regarding aircond installation:

Q1:
diagram here shows the aircond electrical wire (marked red) for my bedroom.
i believe my aircond will have to be installed at this spot. but how do i route the piping to the outdoor unit? it doesn't make sense if it has to go through the bathroom/toilet (wall fully tiled).

need your expertise here.

Q2:
what kind of aircond is recommended to living room with tall ceiling? example of room below:

want to ask about the relative height position for air cond outdoor unit, with reference to indoor unit. should it be higher or lower? I've searched online and found different answers.

panasonic AC from what i heard besides parts exp, reliability is an issue also

so its not worth the price premium versus other brands
*
what brand has good reliability. I'm also tired of Panasonic.

Good thing cooler.
One day realise not cold.
Then technician found outdoor fan issue.
Maybe PCB board got problem.
*
my common finding on Panasonic: failed capacitor. I think all Panasonic that I have encountered. I just buy the same farad rating and replace.
