Alot of versions out there, MHI not good la, MEQ singaporean favorite la, MEQ is Japan la, MHI got its own factory la. Different aircond shop different story, and your story different too. whistling.gif The only thing i know, MHI is not a newly accomplish company, and it involve in commercial heavy duty aircond system very long time, so residential aircond is just a kacang putih to them, and MHI even exist and support Japan during WW2. More into budget user becos it cheaper than ME?? Hell no and not logic at all. I can also say ME is expensive becos its name. Singapore user prefer MEQ not necessary means MHI quality is inferior compare to ME, just becos ME also produce fridge and other electrical appliance, so its name is more familiar compare to MHI in SG. If you look at MHI brochure, the PCB inside the MHI compressor is comformal coated to prevent corrosion by humidity, ME got or not? No. Support wise, ME service center is at Tun Aminah, MHI is at Johor Jaya, i can't see any lack of support at all.

Anyway, I just purchased a 2HP MHI inverter and 1HP MHI inverter, 1HP i choose premium YL series, which got alot of comfy and extra features compare to my current ME GJ10, and lower consumption too (0.67kW vs 0.8kW), so this new MHI will be my main aircond for my master bedroom since i will use it 10 hours per night everynight. The current ME 1hp will move to guess bedroom for reserve purpose, and the 2hp model i choose YN series, only less comfy airflow function, the rest are same. Outcome, i save almost RM400 compare to ME.
*
Can u share the prices of all the MHI models U purchased? Your cost saving of rm400 for 3 units?

I would like to replace my 20yearold Sanyo 1.5HP aircon in my 500sqft living room with either a rm1600 Daikin FTK15M(15HP invertor) OR rm1400 Daikin FT15MV1(1.5HP non-invertor). I will use it occasionally for about 2 hours/day and on special occasion 8 hours. I know it is underpower but based on these prices which of these is a better choice.

I am getting
(1)a 2.5hp-invertor-R410 aircon for my 360sqft bedroom (replacing a 2hp-noninvertor back-to-back unit) &
(2)a 1hp-invertor-R410 for 135sqft bedroom (replace a 1hp-noninvertor-r22 concealed piping) &
(3)a 1.5hp-noninvertor-R22 for my living room (replace a 1.5hp-noninvertor-r22 concealed piping).

I have narrowed down to 2 sets to buy:

1) ME MSY-GE24VA, MSY-GJ10VA and MS-GH13VC OR
2) DAIKIN FTK25P, FTK10P and FT15M

The Mitsubishi package is rm400 > than Daikin. Need some feedback n comments.

I was contemplating whether to replace no (2) with FTKG35Gvm 1.5hp-invertor-r22 using existing concealed piping but was advised to use 1hp-invertor-r410 instead for spare-parts availalibity.

I think the 2.5hp is too powerful for the 360sqft.
Also, please take note of the ME 2.5hp, the outdoor unit is huge and the weight is about 60kg. The indoor unit is bulky too.
*
Actually I was offered MSY-GE24VA(old model replaced by similar spec GF24VA) at rm100 more than MSY-GF18VA-2hp, some vendors did propose that 2hp is just nice but 2.5hp would be better. My SemiD's masterbedroom excluding built-in cabinet is abt 400sqft with the side facing east and front facing south. My existing 14yearold Panasonic 2hp-noninvertor is still working but noisy and I think power hungry as my electric bill is escalating. I am hoping by replacing my two bedroom's with invertor aircons my bill will be reduced from rm300 to rm200.

My intended usage for 2.5hp is 6hrs/day and 1hp is 10hrs/day.

What is the formula to calc BTU based on room size with 9.5ft height?

I would like to replace my 20-yearold SANYO 1.5hp with a 2hp-non-invertor-r22 aircon using the existing concealed piping But I was told that the piping would be diff, and advised to stick with 1.5hp if I want to continue using the concealed piping. However I was told by a aircon dealer that ME MS-GH17VC-2hp can be used for my situation. Is that correct?

I advisable you replacement the whole set, even gas pipes.
Old piping & old insulation may condensation anytime + old wire can't take higher load as well.

Concealed, just forget it, can be used back for the pvc drain pipe only, for the new copper pipe may used with trunking as well.
*
But the SANYO was transfered from my old house 10 years ago. From then until now, I probably use this Sanyo only once a year, so the concealed piping is hardly used and should still be in good condition. And trunking on living room is ugly.

For MS-GH17VC was the non inverter R22 still available?
Can be used with Sanyo old popline as well.

If the latest model MS-HK/GK already R410A not suitable for R22 gas pipe anymore.
*
Yes MS-GH17VC-r22 still available until endof2015. So it can be used on my concealed piping?

Wanted to replace 1hp-noninvertor aircon of my 135sqft bedroom. Currently my choices are CSS10RKH($1360,BTU9550), CSS13RKH($1690,BTU12500), FTK10MV($1250,BTU9100) or FTK15MV($1490, BTU12100). Installer recommended 1.5hp. Need advice. TQ.

MHI slighly better and quiet than others, just a bit high price, the other option for Daikin inverter, you won't disappointed of the coldest n energy efficiency too.

Just slighly noisy = higher airflow
*
So, Kimsim your preference is ME, MHI then Daikin?

Need your advice, I want to replace my 1.5HP Sanyo-R22-noninvertor with 1.5HP FTN15M-r410-invertor using existing concealed piping(R22), is it possible? My installer said yes. rclxub.gif PrevIOUSly was thinking of using MS-GH17VC-R22-noninvertor but installer said R22 will be phased out in 5 years.

Your condition just like mine b4, concealed wall for R22 AC, after we decide to change over R410a, then re-run new copper pipe and wire for R410a, but we can't used back the existing copper gas pipe already, end out died died used trunking and hack off the wall, for the gas pipe through into our bedroom and bend up to ceiling.

At least can't see in living room, just slighly ugly on bedroom. Since this is can keep cold.
*
So u don't recommend that I use my concealed piping (old R22 Sanyo, use less than 10 times in 14years) with the new FTN15M-r410.

kimsin supersound

it's really amusing to see both of you arguing over here. This is not healthy for this topic at all.

Attached here is my electricity consumption with 2 inverter ACs on every night (10-12 hours). I lost my previous history where without inverter AC, my electricity shot up to RM 250++ (around 600-650 units)

So I am not to say that I support anyone here, but inverter AC do really save $$ if you need AC everyday.

U are comparing the two under the same usage, ie 10-12 hrs?

Hello Kimsim how is Panasonic CSS13RKH($1460), Samsung SAM-AR12JVFSB($1100), Sharp SHP-AHXP13SHV1($1180) compare to Daikin FTK15M($1460)? All models are 1.5kp-invertor. The first 3 brands can get online so it is cheaer but not Daikin.

In M'sia over 500 units = ??
In SG over 500 units = 104.35 + 7% GST 7.31 = $111.66

So for me is cheap also
*
For Mysia 500 units rm180.20+6%GST = rm191, so if don't convert currency, Sgp is cheaper. In fact I think Sgp pays better for the same job.

Just bought 3 Samsung aircons (2hp-noninvertor & 1.5hp-invertor) from Rakuten under SenQ. Good price after all the cashback n discount. Hope it is a right decision. Would like to ask u a few question:

How much do u think the 15-yearold old ME 1hp aircon can fetch at resell market?
Need any special/authorised installer for Samsung aircon?
Need any authorised contractor for servicing Samsung aircon?

TQ.

The other 2 for bedrooms are 1.5hp-invertor.
