Dear all, I plan to install air-con for master room. Is it advisable to place the compressor unit on open area which will expose to sun light and rain? If doing that, will this shorten the compressor life spam? As I don't have awing on my second floor. =(

QUOTE(kimsim @ Aug 26 2015, 06:15 PM) Sun light still ok, just avoid to place on afternoon sun area. Will be waste more energy than place on facing into East / west area ok, thanks for the info ya, then is ok, cos my master room facing to east, means sun will be at back (west) during afternoon. =) Expose to rain, no issue, right? QUOTE(kimsim @ Aug 28 2015, 04:10 PM) No issue, the outdoor condenser is proper design for expose to sun, just some cheap brand will be slighly getting rusty due to air, sun and dirty. Just avoid to place at afternoon sun, the compressor will works harder to compare in cooling area. OK, thanks Kim Sim. I have another more headache issue need your advise, my house already have air-con wiring, PVC piping (conceal) & copper piping (conceal) during house renovation since last year, the copper piping that I have is for normal refrigerant (R22) NOT R410a. Now I am going to buy the new air-con and came to know most of the manufacturer already used refrigerant R410a for the air-con, my question is, is there a conversion kit or adapter out there can be used for existing R22 piping? As impossible for me to hack and install the new piping again just for refrigerant R410a. Again there for your advise.
