I have an air con unit that's 5 yrs old and had it cleaned 3 months ago. A month after cleaning it's still not cold at all. Lowest temp and full air blast yet I still have to turn on the fan yet I'm still sweating.

What seems to be the problem I also dunno
Should I get a new unit or have the compressor repaired? It's only one hp, and my room is small. Will doing a chemical cleaning make any difference

i only ask for cleaning service when it is not cold, so not really 6 months once.. yours could be gas-leakage? for room, only use during sleeping hours, 8-10hrs..
*
last checked its not gas leakage and same issue also. before my last cleaning, the ac is not cold enough even on full blast, 5 months after cleaning, same issue again.

to my knowledge if gas leakage it will only blow hot air? is it too often if clean every 6 months? i think so...

Every 3-4 months is like too frequent. Normal frequency should be around once per year only.

Is your area very dusty?
*
its a housing area where its away from any big main roads and there's not that many cars that passes by. Only one unit out of 5 others in my house needs servicing that frequently and I'm using an inverter unit.

after 5 months, the room will no longer be cold despite it being on low temp and full blast

Paying for cleaning service that frequently is rather expensive so Im still trying to find out the cause of it and I am contemplating buying a new non inverter unit all together. serving that unit 3-4 times a year for 2 years is enough to buy a new unit d for 1 HP sad.gif

Is your air con correctly sized? Seemed to me either an undersized air con or faulty unit. Shouldn't need that frequent servicing.

Also did you clean the indoor filter regularly? Like every two weeks.
*
its a small room and i have the air con unit blowing straight at my desk yet i'm still sweating under it blink.gif
and yes I do clean the indoor filter regularly 3-4 weeks once but it doesn't solve my problem. It has been like this for more than year and I service my aircon every 4-5 months when i can't stand it anymore cuz its really really hot.

It will be cold for a month or so after cleaning with only low speed required. after a month i'll have to turn up the fan speed gradually .

you recon that the unit is faulty? should i just go ahead and buy a new one.

Another possibility is the refrigerant is leaking somewhere. When the contractor came for servicing, did they mention about gas leak? Do they need to top up the gas for you every time they do servicing?

Is your drain pipe correct installed? Should be slightly slanted to drain the condensate to outdoor.

Buying a new one seemed like the last resort. I would recommend you to troubleshoot your current unit first.

I had 2 different contractors to do the cleaning for me for 2 years and all said that there's nothing wrong with the unit and no need to top up the gas. They just mentioned that its dirty and its normal to clean every 3-4 months dry.gif maybe just to charge me more for cleaning frequently.
