Looking to get Midea for a bedroom. The price difference between a basic one and 4 star inverter is around RM250. Is it worth to pay the extra 250 for the 4 start inverter?

Thanks

In about 3 to 4 years that extra charge will pay for itself in electricity bill savings, provided use and maintain correctly.

After that it'll be more cost efficient in electricity than low star non inverter.

Inverters are also known to last longer over time. Non-inverter works to regulate temperature by switching on and off at intervals, which both consumes a lot of energy and causes more breakdowns as it ages.

This assumes you're a moderately heavy user la. If you only use it only occasionally (not every day, only a few hours etc.) then is not much difference.

thanks for the reply.

yes it will not be used everyday, more likely only during hot weathers, so the ROI will not be my main consideration.

the reason that i'm considering it is, there are comments saying that the inverter unit will give a more consistent temperature control, thus will be more comfortable. to those who have used both types, may i know if this is really obvious? i.e. the inverter type will feel more comfortable and consistent room temp?

thanks

Yes, provided usage is correct:

1) keep windows and doors closed during use
2) Aircon temp is no more than 20 degrees different from weather temp (too large diff between the aircon temp and weather temp means the aircon has to constantly work on lowering temperature, which negates the benefits of inverter tech)
3) Aircon HP suits size of room

Inverters usually maintain the temp faster, more consistent, and quieter.

Would like to ask sifu's opinion.

I'm trying to decide if an inverter is worth it for the following room and usage:

1) Open concept living-dining-kitchen hall, 45ft x 12ft.
2) Will only turn on maybe 2-3 hours max on hotter days, otherwise rarely use.
3) Has a large balcony window/sliding door.

Would 2HP be sufficient?

- Panasonic not cold as other but good in energy efficiency

Coldness is I think subjective, also depends on house insulation/room size/how tightly sealed your doors and windows are, and how many ° of coldness you prefer

If your room is "leaky" type with big gaps around the doors, or face a lot of sun without heat rejection filter, Panasonic inverter especially will struggle to cool. If you want 16°C temp then don't even think about inverter.

My bedroom with solid door that are flush to floor + installed window film with high heat rejection, my Panasonic inverter can maintain at comfortable 23°C without consuming a lot of electricity.

Hi sifus,

Can ask why my aircond running cold air, but the room just cannot cool down? Already close all doors and windows but still difficult to cool down the room. Anything I should check? Gas is ok and already technician check the whole thing found no issue for indoor and outdoor unit.

Did you try to run on Auto or Dry mode? It could be that the room is feeling "hot" due to excessive humidity. Malaysia has rising humidity weather at the moment: https://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2025...humidity-threat
