Any recommendation for 1HP air conditioner with WiFi with budget around RM1,400?

Btw, has anyone tried using Xiaomi/Acara gateway to link the aircon to Xiaomi/Mijia app?

Hi, in general, how much energy savings would I expect from a inverter air conditioner vs a non invertor? Maybe 20-30%?

Many factors to consider.

1. Correct hp to space ratio.
2. Duration of usage
3. Location of ac ..... room or open space like living hall
4. Maintenance
5. Unit direction facing
6. Number of occupants
*
1. Correct hp to space ratio
From Daikin's calculator, I need is around 18,000BTU

2. Duration of usage
On average, 7 hours a day

3. Location of ac ..... room or open space like living hall
Small room, around 200 sq feet with height of 10 feet

4. Maintenance

5. Unit direction facing
Condo facing west with full exposure of the sun lol

6. Number of occupants
2 people

7. Window size
Big window 5 feet x 7 feet

I'm looking at this 2.0 hp unit and is 1,300W considered high power consumption?

My current aircon is this:

Hey, any review on the midea all easy pro 2.0hp? I'm looking to get this unit too.

Does the inverter really help save $$ ?

Does the app show like power consumption or scheduling on/off and timer?

Any inverter aircon where the app I can easily adjust the fan speed or temperature to change to certain value after x number of hours or at a certain time?

Also, power consumption reading in the app would be very useful also

I'm thinking of replacing my very old 2007 air conditioner but my aircon repairer mentioned the pipping (?) is the thinner type and all the modern aircons are using much thicker pipes due to much higher pressure (like 2x more pressure than aircons back in the days). He mentioned it is possible to change to a thicker piping but needs a lot of hacking job as it is inside the walls.

Also, he also mentioned my place wiring has only 3 lines whereby the Earth needs to be used for the Control or something, I really didn't understand too. But basically there will be no earthing (But I live in a condo where there is lightning protection)

He did mention he installed 10 new air conditioners before MCO for other units at my condo which the same small piping and all, there are no issues until now.

My aircon at low fan there is almost no air coming out, I suspect the thermostat is faulty too as the temperature is not accurate. Plus a newer inverted type airconditioner may save me electricity.

But should I take the risk though? Any inverter airconditioner I could take a look at which might have lower pressure?

Bumping this in case anyone else have different views smile.gif

As I won't be changing from my R22 non-inverter aircon, wanted to know which consumes more electricity.... lowering temperature or increasing fan speed?

not sure about piping and pressure, but very old already, i think better changed.

about the control/signal wire, thats true if u r changing to Inverter AC. INV AC need signal wire from indoor unit to 'control' the INV compressor functions.

so the earth wire will be converted to signal wire from indoor to outdoor unit. 'theoretically' ur outdoor unit still will be 'earth' by those copper piping linking from indoor to outdoor.

QUOTE(Jason @ Mar 21 2023, 05:46 PM)
2007 probably using R22 gas. Answer is no, it is not up to spec for latest R32 a/c. Don't take the risk, anything happens you just going to pay more for installer to fix it. And if your a/c is still working fine, don't need to change lah. Yes, newer a/c is more power saving, but the $$$ to do it properly.. not worth the power savings.

QUOTE(ceo684 @ Mar 29 2023, 07:29 PM)
Theoretically no problem to retrofit if it doesn’t leak
However if there is a leak then you got your answer alr

For the inv need 4 lines. Usually cut corner by illegally tapping the earth wire. By right should be earthed to another earth point from a nearby socket.

Brilliant idea!

Midea 1.5HP with inverter for RM1,388. I think has WiFi too.

If possible go with 5 star rating, in a long run, it does save your electricity bill, although initial investment might be a little higher 200-300 bucks

I think Midea's latest model has easy cleaning for DIY guys, the roller is easily removable, do check those out as well
*
Actually in the long run my pipe might even burst as it is not rated to withstand the pressure of the R32 gas. Don't think I would like to do any hacking so right now.

My dilemma below:

Is it normal to have the airconditioner compressors NOT BOLTED to the metal brackets?

Would there be any issues screwing into the metal brackets?

Kinda scared it could easily topple and kill someone.

The correct way would be bolted with isolation mounts, but at the very least should be bolted/screwed.

QUOTE(Benefon @ May 26 2024, 08:40 PM)
If you’re never told them to blotted.
There is no bolts at all. That is typical installer
*
QUOTE(dannyw @ May 27 2024, 08:40 AM)
The left unit seems a bit narrow for compressor to blow air out.
*
Thank you. Due to safety concerns, I think I might just ask the installer to remove the rusty bracket/frame, install a new one and make sure they bolt it in.

I'm looking at the Midea All Easy Pro Inverter as apparently, it is easy to clean and can take out the motor for cleaning too. Someone also mentioned the app having more intricate scheduling such as certain temp after x hours and can change temp again after x hours.

Any comments? Looking at 5 stars energy efficient inverter and has good app functionality. Bonus points if can pair with google home or other smarthome apps

RM2.6k for a 2.0hp unit with installation.

Can I check if the Hisense TUGS model has self cleaning? It is NOT mentioned in the website but only in this article:

Which midea model did you get?

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Feb 18 2025, 10:41 AM)
I’m experiencing the same issue—a noisy bearing sound from the outdoor unit of my 1HP Hisense TUGS. I bought three units, and all of them have the same noise. Despite that, they perform flawlessly and cool better than my Gree Lomo-N. Maybe it's just because the Hisense units are still new? Haha!

I was initially leaning towards Gree because of my positive experience with their non-inverter units. I’ve had three Gree Lomo-N 1HP units running daily for 12 hours each, and they’ve worked perfectly for five years with only semiannual servicing.

It’s disappointing, though, that Gree Malaysia doesn’t offer any 5-star R32 inverter units.

Eh bro, do you know if your TUGS aircon has self cleaning mode?

One thing good about Hisense is the 3 years general warranty vs 2 years for Midea..

Im considering TCL FreshIn as well which is a more premium model. TCL also offers 3 years general warranty but an even longer 10 years compressor warranty.

QUOTE(sHawTY @ Feb 18 2025, 11:47 AM)
It’s written in the manual for the remote but I have yet to test them
Will test it out after I go home today

Thanks. Just checking, the bearing sound is it high pitch kind of sound?

QUOTE(zak3 @ Feb 18 2025, 01:19 PM)
i think should have.
as KAGS have that feature..  hmm.gif
it runs full blower before fully turn off. need around 30s or before turning off wall switch
*
Quite strange if TUGS does not have self cleaning haha

QUOTE(kucingfight @ Feb 18 2025, 01:52 PM)
i was unfortunate to have a lemon/defective Midea inverter 1.5hp MSXE-13CRDN8.
i installed 2units of the same model together. 1 was functioning well till today

it was running fine for 2yr+ , bought in late 2021 ..after bought 2.5yrs, in wasnt cold
Asked 1st service guy to come..and he just topped up the gas (dumb) ,
and after 1month it was hot again,. so there was some kind of minor/small leaked somehow
asked another diff guy to check thoroughly, disassembled everything, did soaked test etc..refilled and was cold only for 1month

after that spending of aorund rm550, i gave up and changed to hisense inverter
*
What Hisense aircon model did you switch to?

I decided to get the TCL Gentle cool 1.5hp inverter over the Hisense Tugs (due to noisy compressor as mentioned by others here) and over the Midea All easy Pro

+ It is the cheapest airconditioner featuring "windless" blade design
+ Compatible with Google home
+ Self clean, Ionizer
+ easy to maintain/ install design like the Midea All easy Pro
+ 3 years general warranty + 10 years for compressor

- 4 stars energy rating
- Small player in the market

There are some interesting models such as the Hisense VAGSF and TCL FreshIn which has a air tube (?) to pull fresh air from outside the room (?) or window (?). Nice feature but it costs around RM2.3k for 1.5HP inverter
