Hi all,

thinking of getting these

These are for the rooms (4 units) -
Midea ( MSXS-10CRDN8) Xtreme Save R32 Inverter Air Conditioner / Aircond / Air Cond- Cooling Capacity (Btu/h) 10,000 (4,981-11,075) RM1099 (wifi module RM90) vs

PANASONIC 1.0HP X-DELUXE R32 AERO SERIES
Cooling Capacity (Btu/h) Btu/h : 9,680  RM1559

Thinking of getting either 1 of this model for my house  - both have wifi and good btu- has anyone got any issues with their midea?

the living hall and master bedroom will be getting the panasonic  but considering the midea as well
X-DELUXE R32 AERO SERIES 2 hp  (Btu/h : 19,000) RM2,769.00  vs
Midea 2.0 hp (18,000 btu)  RM1,919.00

and

Pana X-DELUXE R32 AERO SERIES 1.5 hp  (Cooling Capacity : 12,500btu) RM1,899.00 vs
Midea 1.5 hp (12,000 btu) RM1,319.00
Should I use the Pana for the masterbedroom and hall (for reliability ) and the rest midea? (these are not so heavily used but will still be lighly used (ie night only - versus these 2 areas which will be more)

price wise midea seems very very competitive...appreciate your thoughts. I like both brands because have WIFI

Use a single brand for all. Easy for troubleshooting if have similar brand. I keep old faulty unit for spare parts so technician dont waste time when troubleshooting my units.

Noticed that my house come with the electric power point for aircon, the socket without any switch, just wiring, so my question, if i install aircon and connect power to the power point directly, which mean the aircon will always get power supply because no switch on the power socket, will this consume more electricity? what if the aircon not always on, maybe 1 or 2 times in a week.

Another question on installing aircon, i saw shopee advertise RM20 per ft on piping, does this include drilling?
*
There should be a wall switch to turn on/off.

Depending in user, you can also ask the electrician to fix a socket on the wall so that you can disconnect the plug for full safety purpose.

If you have set certain control like a timer, then the switch must be left on, otherwise everything will be erased when there is no power. The usage of electricity will be minimal. Other than that, you can turn off if is seldom use.

All new installation price comes with 15 ft piping. If is more, then is chargeable depending on installer. So it up to your nego skill if is just another 1 to 2 ft extra and some can give foc if is just the leftover balance.

I asked quite number of installer.. At least 5..some quote cheap like 220 but then after come said this not include that not included.. Add add become near 300..so I just wonder your price is in Klang Valley or do you mind sharing the contact?
*
Standard installation cost include labour, 10ft copper piping, outdoor unit bracket and ready wiring or socket.

Any others will be charged.

Some may charge for taking down the old AC but so far no installers have charge me for that. Logically he shouldnt because when one do a full service AC, the price include taking down, clean and reinstall. Why is it any different when replacing old AC ?

You must ask what is included in his price b4 agreeing to his service.

Lets accept the fact that any installer including those recommended will 'cut' if the owner is not aware. Why would he want to earn less when it can be more.

this thing in standard installation, is it 1 pair or 1 'tube' only?
meaning, 10feet total pipe (for both charge and discharge)? or 20feet (10feet charge, 10feet discharge)? unsure.gif
*
It comes in pairs. Cannot have one and not the other. Similar to wiring ... cannot just give live and no earth and neutral.

If your unit comes with piping, then installer 'untung'.

nope. AC unit no long piping.
as i see it, when they say need extra piping, seems like usually they overcharge customer.

as standard install include 10feet (if its calculated in pair) supposed its cukup already... but somehow still need add extra add-ons.. it like the standard included piping only 10feet cut in half (5feet in, 5feet dis)..

hope u got what im trying to say..  unsure.gif
*
I have installed more than 20 units of ac throughout the many years and none charge me for extra piping or whatever other than what is agreed.

Not sure why some of your face problems and my installers are also mostly adhoc.

And try avoid 'C' installer.

Just a quick one for all the sifu's in here. I'm planning my apartment reno and just need a bit of feedback/guidance in relation to planning my air-cond purchase.

My living and dining space area is a fat "L" shape and floor space is around 511 sq ft with average height ceilings of around 2.5 to 2.6 m. Based on calculations, would 2 air-con units of 1.5 HP each (1.5 HP x 2 units) be good?

Appreciate any feedback and thank you in advance.
*
2hp for living and 1hp for dining.

Hello guys, I have a Panasonic 1.0HP Standard Air Conditioner CS-PC9MKH. Back in 30th of September, I asked a company to service the aircond which literally dismantle the whole unit to "wash".

Unfortunately, after that dismantle, the unit would turn off itself sometime in the middle of night and now the whole unit fully dead. Before fully dead, I tried to turn it on for one more time, it turns on and died right on when compressor try to kick in.

Anybody got any idea what's going on? By the way, they broke my aircond indoor unit cover hinge as well. ;sweat;
*
You should stop using it when the fault was first detected. I think there was a small leak initially and finally after more than a month, all the gas gone and the compressor kaput.

My aircond has knocking sound occasionally that would only go off after I switched it off and turn it back on again? What could potentially be the issue?
*
1. Flap or the motor sound or both.

2. Expansion/contraction of the casing.

Thanks both mini orchard and lty25_1234, lessons learnt.

Just wondering whether the brand new Panasonic X deluxe is reliable? Thinking of getting this model but friend told me that Midea or GREE currently are better bang for bucks.
*
Avoid using mix brands. Easy for trouble shooting if only 1 brand. If space available, keep the old for spare parts.

All my ac are more than 10 years now. One brand, similar model for same hp.

Hi all, Have a few questions when comes to Aircond fan speed. Usually which speed do you all use? Fan auto and let the blower decide or Fix at 1 fan speed level? Is there any difference when comes to inverter and non-inverter in the fan speed setting?

1. For my living room, im using 2hp non-inverter and set to auto fan speed but the fan seem to be high power all the time and not as cold as if i set at speed 1 or 2.

Which will reduce electricity consumption better?
*
I normally set all my ac to one temp and fan speed unless there is a change in weather condition.

Hi.. I was told by a technician that the ac compressor should be left on the floor instead of hanging on the wall. easy during maintenance and we can wash on our own sometimes. Can anyone advise?
*
Placing of compressor is for its operating efficiency and safety reasons.

Also if one is living in landed, it is easy target for thieves. And if the ac is for 1st floor, it doesnt make sense to place the compressor on the ground floor.

For highrise, space is always limited. Sometime adding another ac can be a problem.

Dear sifus here. Want to ask if it is true that for copper pipe that is 30ft long, new unit. Daikin non inverter p series. Need to put gas first for it to function properly. Cause my ac man say too long already. Have to do it. No need for shorter.
*
If the distance between the indoor and the outdoor units is far, some gas topup may be necessary. The gas present within the outdoor unit has to be released to the whole system including the refrigerant tubing and the indoor unit for it to cool the place properly.

After installation, the installer normally have to check if it has sufficient gas.

If the whole cooling system is short of gas, the compressor may fail one day.

Anyone knows whats the issue here? The water is leaking from the back. Normally condensed water will drip into the drip pan and flow through the drain pipe. I’ve checked the drain pipe is not clogged. But as you can see in the photo, water is flowing from the back cover. And you can see old traces of water and some of them are orange in color

*
The coil is clog. It prevents the flow of water to the drain pan.

copper pipe like this still can use? just cut it few feet and rejoin with connector or must change whole piping (about 13 meters)?
*
Yes, if there is no crack. Use soap solution to test for crack.

Thanks but i checked the drain pipe it’s not clogged. I poured i  1 liter of water it drained instantenously. It only drips water when the aircond is in operation
*
The cooling coil is clog and NOT the drain pan. The water from the coil cannot flow to the drain pan. The ac need to be service.

Thanks that make sense. I guess the cooling coil is clogged of dust and debris. For temporary solution, pouring water through the cooling coil, do you think it will work?
*
Use a spray water bottle for temp solution.

is there any diff between putting 2 x 1.5 hp  vs  2 hp + 1 hp ?
*
Personally, I will spend more time in the living than dining. If having meal at dining, on the 1hp to add to the cooling.

A 2hp will give a better overall cooling than 1.5hp, otherwise you need to turn on 2 units.

Just curious, will this works for the coil cleaning? Any experience for such products?

Dont waste money on it. Your coil and blower are both clog up.

Your ac is due for a proper service.

Took down this morning to wash....
