Thanks very much for the reply.

You mentioned about the outdoor unit needing cleaning. Is it similar to the indoor unit (i.e. got the removable filter that can take out and wash)?
One other thing, is it 'okay' for gas pressure to give out after 3 years?
*
outdoor unit rarely needs to be cleaned unless it's been running in very dusty area.
air cond refrigerant is a close loop.
it doesnt leak. if it does, it will lose coolness in probably 1 month(very slow leak)? not 3 years.

your indoor unit probably needs some cleaning.
have you check the blower fan?
not only the filter and the fin on the coil needs cleaning. the blower fan gets clogged up too.
i find my panasonic unit the blower fan gets clogged up way faster than the filter blink.gif

I just realised I made a spectacular error.  doh.gif

1) Recalculated size of the room is 255 sqft (this is after taking out the wardrobe which is approximately 36 sqft).
2) Window is 10 ft x 4 ft. 2 sets of window - one is 10ft x 4ft facing west, one is 8ft x 4ft facing south
3) 3 Doors (Main, Balcony, Bathroom)

EDIT: ANOTHER SPECTACULAR ERROR! doh.gif doh.gif

EDIT 2: I didn't factor in for lights and the occasionally on laptop. Potential TV later on. As it stands, with my revised room size, my required BTU just jumped to 12,400 BTU.

Do you need to use your AC in daytime or mostly at night only?
If mainly used at night, even a 1 HP inverter can suit your needs as inverter can go up to 11,000 BTU/hr
If used daytime, then 1.5HP inverter will suit you as it can ramp up to 14,000 BTU/hr.

Daytime is only during the weekends or holiday...Most of the time the AC is on timer (6pm - 5am).

Not too keen on an inverter tbh, the initial cost is too high and I can't justify it with a "savings over time" which I have no concrete figure. I'm just a cheapskate that find an extra 1k a bit hard to swallow laugh.gif

I've been reading around, it seems that there are some reviews (not many) saying that Daikin's blower isn't so good. There's even someone who consistently say that Daikin's inverter down right sucks, and the 2HP non-inverter is a big no-no.

Is Panasonic a better choice nowadays? Or is Daikin still a relevant player? Seems like when it comes to inverter technology, the general consensus says Panasonic is better.

Is this wrong?

PS: Which brand and model are you referring to btw? 14,000 BTU/hr @ 1.5 HP. Thanks!
*
I dont know where you compare you price of extra 1k for inverter.
Inverter usually cost 20-30% more.
But this is justified as inverters are usually 20% more efficient than non-inverters.
But end of the day it's your choice.
What i can tell you is that my inverter AC has paid itself after about 1 year of usage in terms of savings in TNB bill.

I am refering to panasonic inveter 1.5HP which can go up to 14,000 BTU/h.

Make comparison yourself and decide yourself. icon_idea.gif

My bad, over-exaggeration. It's about 50% more, approximately 600. I just rounded it up to the nearest thousand laugh.gif

I'm working on a max budget of 2k - the lesser the better. Spent quite a bit already on a water filter and air purifier so gotta cut back a bit on the ac.

Mind if I ask your room size and how long you've used your unit for? Also, which model yeah?

Thanks smile.gif

Still dont get your 50% more.
Based on panasonic website, CS-V12RKH is around 1.8k, while CS-S13SKH is around 2.0k.
Unless you are comparing with CS-SV12SKH which is around 1.5k.

I am using CS-S10RKH for my smaller room ~100 sq ft.
coming to 2 years using it.

got another unit, CS-S13RKH for the master bedroom ~288 sq ft.

Was comparing between the CS-S13RKH and the CS-PV12SKH specifically. RM 1,200 vs RM 1,800.

I was initially contemplating your exact unit there but it maxes out my budget. How has it been, using it for 2 years? How often did you need to service it?
*
it been working great for.
like i said, the inverter unit paid itself from savings on TnB bill.

service - none.
been cleaning the filter every 3-6 months.
but the blower tend to get dirty quite easily.
so just manually clean the blower as well with a brush.
working great so far

Guys,

aircond installer quoted if include 20a switch, need to add RM60. is it really that expensive?

i looked at Lelong and saw some selling less than RM20. What the difference between 1 Gang 1 Way Flush Switches (RM18.50) and 1 Gang 2 Way Flush Switches (RM48)?
*
you are looking at normal lighting switch i think
1 gang 2 way is more for stairs, where you can off and on at 2 locations
you need to look at 2 pole switch.

air cond refrigerant is close loop
there's no need to "top up" gas.
top up gas is technician way of earning extra pocket money from you.
If it leaks...everything will be gone...not 10%, 20%

the system itself cost too much for residential use.
maintenance will will cost a lot as well.
So not likely it'll be used for residential

hmm...asked my technician about the brand, he said he recommend panasonic non-inverter rm1.3k hmm.gif ....
how much when u bought it with installation? hmm.gif
after did some searching thru google, for my case inverter/non-inverter doesn't matter much for me i guess since i just on for about 6-7 hr night time to sleep
my technician quoted RM1.3k for panasonic non-inverter series  cry.gif

6 - 7 hours?
that's long time.
i switch on from around 9 pm to 3 am.
the inverter unit paid for itself already after 1 year of usage.
better to get inverter in this case.

Is there anyone here using LG smart inverter 1.5?
I'm having issue to close the aircond properly, as picture below air deflector keep open although i already switch off the aircond. Is it normal?
*
is the air cond going through the drying cycle?
some AC do that to dry the coil to prevent mold build up on the coil
