Anyone receive call from PJ Red Cube tyre mechanic asking for cash to change chamber?? Sent my car in for service and receive a call, he said if receipt required it will be charge GST but if pay cash directly then no need to charge. Even the receipt given is not issue by KIA but by his own sdn bhd? This sound very fishy and I wonder if anyone come across such before? Is this common in all other KIA service center?

Generally, most SC do not have their own tyre and wheel alignment facility and most, if not all, subcontract the task to nearby tyre shops. Maybe that helps to shed some lights into your question.

A quick update on last Friday incident. I did not pay the tyre mechanic directly, he was waiting for me at the SC when I arrived. I requested to meet the SC Manager but he has already left for the day. I insisted an official invoice and they did that for me. The item stated in the invoice is 2 front camber skru for around RM127. Seriously, over th last 2 days I did not notice much of a different after SC replacing it. Lesson learned, my car is only 14 months old and mileage around 15,000km. It seem like the camber has a terrible short lifespam, even worse than my previous proton. Honestly, I felt cheated because the mechanic attempt to pocket the cash himself, when I realized and try to stop him from doing it which in less than 10mins, I was told is already done. Hence to all the KIA owner, I strongly suggest do not take the offer and get your car seek second opinion outside. Also, when I send in my car for service fuel consumption shows 10.8km/L, when I collect it it turns to 14.8km/L. I wonder if anyone else notice this or not because this show how they "test" and take "good" care of your car while sit in the SC huh. To bump from 10.8km/L to 14.8km/L takes a lot of aggressive driving style huh?

Thanks for sharing your experience . From the perspective of a SC, it is quite a difficult/catchy situation when it comes to advising owners on the need to do the wheel/tyre alignment and balancing. If the tyre set-up is no longer balanced/aligned, the wear will not be even, and may cause one side of the tyres to wear faster than the other, and as such, your tyres need to be replaced much faster than their expected shell life. Very often, the front tires are rotated to the rear tires at every 10,000 km and this is what the SC usually recommend owners to do. Ultimately, the owners can exercise his/her discretion since he/she is paying for it but it is the duty of the SC to advice the owners what is best for his/her car, it is not always a case of the SC trying to profit from the owner, generally speaking of course.

Hi guys...anyone know what is the brand name of our stock HU 8 inch ? I cant seem to find out what brand is it. The manual book only stated multimedia information system..
*
It is an OEM product. You won't be able to find the brand as Naza has a contract with the supplier and they enjoy exclusive rights on the sale and marketing of this product for K3 in Malaysia.

btw...steering alignment need as predicted... rclxms.gif

Also...I noticing an issue....
when I have GPS/Waze running, I notice the speed on speedo is higher than them...
seems like i have a higher speedo value than actual...
is ur SC has tool to calibrate this? Or jz a common thing?
*
Alignment can be fixed during the first service, remember to highlight this to the SC concerned.

I found this reply in the internet on the subject that you brought up:

A GPS-based speedometer is only accurate on the flat. On a gradient it under-reads, as the surface distance (and therefore speed) is greater than the horizontal distance). Also, it cannot work if it cannot see the satellites (e.g. in a tunnel).

The regulations that car manufacturers must adhere to in order to sell their cars in the major markets do not allow speedometers to under-read, but do allow them to over-read by up to 10%. This is so that if there is a 30mph limit, and the driver assumes the car speedometer is accurate and sticks to an indicated 30mph or less, the driver is not exceeding the limit. It also must work at all times. A GPS-based speedometer cannot meet these regulatory requirements.

Therefore, to err on the side of caution and keep their cars legal, most manufacturers develop speedometers that over-read by about 3% with a tolerance of about ±1% on new tyres (as the tyres wear, or if the pressures are too low, the amount of over-read increases).

Some kid with his modded saga nicked my car and dented + scratched my front left fender + bumper.

Any recommendations for body work shop to get it fixed? Somewhere around Selayang, PJ or nearby areas.

Thanks smile.gif

There is one workshop with reasonable charges and good workmanship at Serdang. Can assist you in you don't mind the distance.

Hi all, can i know how much are you insuring for the windscreen? How much does it cost to change it by SC? Thanks.
*
Minimum amount to insure is RM2500 to fully cover the front windscreen which happens to be the most costly piece of glass, if you repair at shops like Dr Cermin. If you go back to Naza, need around RM3000. Thanks

What kind of custom dashboard meter design you mean? Are you referring to the Head Unit wall paper /display ? If you can post a picture of it, then maybe we can help.

Customer design for the Gauges.
Something like this. This is Kia Forte custom.

Custom Gauge
*
I don't think this is available as an optional part for upgrade. I saw this on the Kia Forte Koup concept a few years ago but haven't seen it again in any production cars, not even on the actual Koup model. The reasons this was not adopted in any of the production cars could probably be due to the high cost or even material durability under extreme temperatures.

Sorry to side track a bit but just to share that those who have the budget for Cerato 2.0 at RM117,680 , you can now also consider to get the newly launched Kia SUV, Sportage 2.0 2WD at only RM118,888 OTR. What are your thoughts ?

would like to clarify on procedures of setting the memory seat :
Press set (beep) and press no(beep)

By doing that the seat setting suppose to be saved already right ? Mine always go back to default whenever i didnt start the car for a period of time
*
Yes, that's correct.

1) Press set (beep once)
2) Press 1 or 2 (beep twice) to store the setting under 1 or 2

The seat position is now set. If the seat position is changed by someone else, just press 1 or 2 to change to your pre-set seating configuration.

i can't really tell what is default mode/seating position  tongue.gif
but anyway i disabled the "move on exit" now as my rear passenger complained shock by seat moving back
since i not that tall until need the seat to move back that much...i disable it for now...lol
*
It is called "Seat Easy Access." Yes, for some , it is better to have it switch off, because it becomes difficult to stretch your leg to step on the brake pedal to start the car engine, before the seat could move into the desired position.

Spotted some paint defect on the top, not sure what happened.
Tried to claim from SC last week but rejected, according to them this is not a manufacturer defect.

Anyway, anyone knows where or how can I fix this?

Looks like some acid had eatan away the paint. You will need to respray the roof, look for a good paint workshop.

Do I need to respray the whole roof? Or can I just do some touch ups?
*
It depends on the skill of the workshop and also the condition of your car paint. If the paint has already turn matte, the new coat of paint for the affected area will look slightly different from the rest of the roof. But then again, the painting is at the top of the roof, which is not very visible. If you have the budget, just repaint the entire roof.
