it depends on you actually. If you are a fussy owner, it is better you do self inspection first. Go thoroughly all over the house. then opt for joint inspection. I am a bit fussy, so it took me 3 days to complete the whole inspection myself. Eventually, it is your house, you are going to stay there. I don't see a point why you need to hire a professional home inspector to inspect your own house. Another person's point of view will not always be the same as yours right.

I have 1001 defects on my unit to complian. I'm so pissed with the quality of the house. They might be minor but to me they are major as the poor quality work is every edges of the house. Pictures attached are just 10% of the defects I've found.
