Hmm... Played WoW yesterday. Pings times in game is around 1.4k. Should be playable but the lag spikes are horrendous.

I was with a full team running Uldaman and I was their main tank. Many times I lagged like for more than 30secs during the spikes. Luckily we had a good priest doing the healing so I didn't die that much.

Did a trace route to WoW and the packet losses are still there.... I dread to call TMNuts about this, I doubt their "telephone operator" know what packet losses is all about...... sigh.

This is a relief. I'm not the only one experiencing these spikes. I also had like 1400ms (on dial-up) latency yesterday, which on normal days are quite playable. But the spikes, messed up by Stockade runs and it's unbearable.

Anyone knows when this would be fixed?

In case you're using dial-up. Yesterday was at 800-900ms. Nice and very playable.

Hope the trend continues. Or I'll have to rip all those TM posters off. tongue.gif

Topic's lost when moved.

Original topic: Maxis 3G connect. Ala atou tala baik.

Anyone's using it? How's the latency?

maxis 3g connect? the card itself is rm1600 + monthly subscription of 120... wah who rich bugger will use it? just to play game?
*
Aside from the rather steep card price (you sure it's RM1200?), I think I could live with the monthly subscription fees, if only they could have coverage in Kelana Jaya.

I'm paying roughly RM150 monthly for dial-ups. With decent speed to boot, RM120 monthly is actually quite alright.

More DSL ports would only be available next year, Telekom is in the midst of getting more DSLAM for exhange nationwide. The contract was rumored to be around 3-5 million and was reportedly tendered to Marconi, Alcatel and HuaWei.

RM1.6k for the card...ugh...you're better off using a handphone with 3G + Bluetooth...
*
Agreed. Their business model is flawed. A low-end 3G phone would probably cost around 1.6k or less. And it'll do more. I'm not sure about the monthly subscription fee though, since it's voice + data.

I'll wait for new 3G models from Motorola. It's either A1000 or the MPx. Have not decided yet. (sigh..) I used to get discounted offers when I was a Motorola employee.

err i heard my frend tell me bout digi hanphone internet access, isit the same u guys talking ?

btw ray no jaring broadband?nasioncom ka, timebroadband ka, wifi ka... or ask more at telekom hq for more port at ur place smile.gif
*
eikan,

DIGI uses EDGE for broadband solution. EDGE is a different technology from 3G. 3G is purportedly faster.

Here's the broadband situation at my place:

Jaring: Slightly out of coverage
Nasioncom: No coverage
Time: F-up!! Been upgrading its facilities. Won't take new subsription.
WIFI: No laptop for WIFI. Prefer to stay put indoor.
Streamyx: No port. Like I said, the new batch of DSLAMs would only come in next year.

Celcom has just launched its 3G service.

http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?f...3078&sec=nation

It's at RM150 (Data services only) that's 30 bucks more than maxis.

Though the prerequisite is that you're a Celcom pre-paid customer. Pre-paid? No 3G love for post-paid.

Hmm... wonder if it's OK to buy your own 3G phone and subscribe to their service. It seems like they're selling the phone + service.

Bila...oh..bila.. would maxis or celcom come up with integrated voice + data packages at affordable pricing.........

All I can say, I've had horrible problems with Streamyx, e.g; my 5 hour death marathon resulting in me progressing one measly level, and that is level 7 to level 8!

Last weekend, I went back to my Kampung in Batu Pahat. Don't have Streamyx there, but I can use dialup. Guess what, I must've spent 10hours playing WoW, and got my character from lvl 8 to lvl 18! I even managed to do some instances (finally! without any disconnects!). Latency around 700-900 range all the way.

Man! Dialup is the way to go for WoW, especially with Streamyx in its current state.

Some update. Most of you know I'm on TM Net Dial-up & Shut-up.

Insane lag yesterday due to maintainance. It was the same for the pass few days. But at least today I know the cause of the lag.

Anyway, was playing and got disconnected to TM halfway. Guess the maintainance has finished. Relogged to WoW, and the lag issue is gone. I'm still at 800ms - 1100ms, which is very playable on my dial-up and couldn't detect much spikes. thumbup.gif

Hope it stays this way.
