Thank you all for the clarifications, very helpful indeed!

Going back to the question on e-book: The CFA website isn't clear whether the PDF copy that you saved in your own HDD will get "expired" as well after 5 years, meaning when you try to open the PDF after 5 years, does the PDF embed some kinda "time checker" that prevent you from opening it, or the expiry only applies to the on-line version?

I am planning to do Level 1 now and enroll for Noesis classes. They're conducting classes through webinar/skype and I'm not sure how effective that is coz I'm in Penang while the classes are conducted in KL.

Anyone in Pg doin Level 1 now please do shout out!

Hi Shermanyun,

Yes, the digital copy will expire after 5 years. I dont think you can save it as a pdf either. I have always kept to the hardcopy version.

I'm a Noesis student as well but I'm in Level 2 now and in KL. You will get the necessary support from the lecturers and staff.

- Yes

is it good and usefull/ similiar to CFA??
- CFP is useful for those in financial planning. The CFA program is useful for those who are in equity/fixed-income/derivatives analysis.

if i'm not planning to enroll in doing financial planning related job then is it worth to study for this cert?
- Not worth it. Just buy a book on financial planning & self-study.

may i know is it CFP and CFA are same level??
- The CFA program is on a totally different level compared to CFP.

erm, back office. i guess part from risk management dept, others such as transaction processing and execution don't really need to take either cfa or cfp.

Anyway, CFP is definitely for some1 who wanna be in the front line (ie. wealth maangement & financial planning)

oh i c, then i better reconsider .. really appreciate for your reply . thank you so much.

what would be the ideal degree program to prepare for cfa? should it include accounting elements?
specifically is a combined degree of accounting and finance suitable?

Any degree, whether it's from a top university or some run down degree that you just bought recently (has to be recognised la).

I would say there are no ideal degrees to prepare for CFA. IMO, I would study for something unrelated and then take CFA since I will be learning more new things than say coming from a finance background.

It really boils down to whether you feel annoyed studying mostly the same thing with different formulae which I feel is harder to switch.

So I've seen quite some ppl ask this question but there isn't exactly a definite answer so can anyone advice on this?
Did anyone successfully tried to get into CFA with acca's obu? Or perhaps know someone who did?
I'm very interested in CFA and is currently doing acca.
If obu does not qualify then we can try with four years working experience but what particular job in any accounting firm or big four will qualify for CFA?
I've heard someone said that not all Audits qualify, only certain ones related to investments?

Come and share some knowledge and advice, thanks.

i did manage to register for CFA using my OBU degree and I know plenty of others who manage to do so too. Two of them are already Charterholders.

Wah really?!
That's great news cuz I was worried I couldn't get into CFA with it.
So it means u completed acca already right?
Does accounting knowledge from acca helped with CFA s exam?
