Hi, I'm fresh to CFA. Would like to ask whether does the 4 years of working experience recognise audit/advisory experience in Big4? Can the 4 years be cumulatively rather than consecutively?

The fastest you can complete the exams is 2.5 years. (Level 1 in Dec, and Level 2 and Level 3 in June respectively).

*
No, 2.5 years is Level 1, 2, & 3 all in June. Your above example is 2 years.

You don't need a CFA if you aren't heading to investment field. If you want to be a CEO of an engineering firm, my opinion would be bypass CFA and go straight to MBA. Anyway that's just my opinion.

Is there something other than CFA which is more relevant for someone interested in joining the investment field? Especially for someone who does not have a relevant basic degree.

Isn't CFP more suited for those interested in Sales?
What I actually meant was for someone interested in becoming an investment banker. How much would the CFP certification help in the case of someone who does not have a relevant degree? I've read up a bit on the CFP and it seems only a small part of the topics have to do with IB.

In your case most likely an MBA from a good place will help.

Since you don't have a degree, you'll need work experience.

I read in the newspaper (The Star Recruitment) that some of the local investment banks (e.g MayBank) do take in people with accountancy background (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA) for their investment position.

Having said that CFA is still the Gold Standard for Investment related profession.

Personally, when I read investment report, I tend to put more faith in those prepared by CFA holder.

CFP is more geared towards preparing students for retail advisory role vis-a-vis institutional. CFA is the back room whereas CFP will be the front desk.
