Hi everyone,
I plan to take Certified Financial Planning, then just take CFA level alone 1 to strengthen my investment skill. No plan to complete CFA nor be a charter-holder.
What do you guys think, any comment? Appreciate it.

I have been following the CFA or related thread in LYat for quite some time and my curiosity is getting the better of me.
...therefore...
I have signed up to do the Investment Module of CFP program and if I found that Investment is my cup of tea, I will definitely sign up for CFA in the near future. My CFP Investment module start in Mar'2010.

QUOTE(willy_wonka @ Feb 4 2010, 05:24 PM) Xuzen, u'll also need to get at least 4 years of investment-related experience to qualify for the cfa charter. if possible, try to align your work and study accordingly such that u can apply for the charter soon after u pass all 3 levels The chartered-ship is far away from my mind. BTW does Financial Advisory work count as the required work experience. My primary goal is getting my CFP qualification to be a BNM/SC Lic Financial Planner and I see CFA is just an enhancement/icing to my credential in my field of work. Thanks, Xuzen

QUOTE(LastRites @ Aug 9 2010, 05:00 PM) Is there something other than CFA which is more relevant for someone interested in joining the investment field? Especially for someone who does not have a relevant basic degree. I read in the newspaper (The Star Recruitment) that some of the local investment banks (e.g MayBank) do take in people with accountancy background (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, CA) for their investment position. Having said that CFA is still the Gold Standard for Investment related profession. Personally, when I read investment report, I tend to put more faith in those prepared by CFA holder. CFP is more geared towards preparing students for retail advisory role vis-a-vis institutional. CFA is the back room whereas CFP will be the front desk. Xuzen

Hello friends,
Just a quick check with you all, in the CAPM formula, does the expected return purely come from capital gain or does it include dividend as well? Pls advise, thank you.

Can, I have some opinion on Kasturi's CFA program?
I used to taken my CFP at Kasturi, and I love its centralised location with MRT and bus connection.
I also love the food around that area i.e., lots of choices.

Hello people,
I couple of years ago, when I took my CFP exam in U.M exam centre, I came across some candidates taking the GARP - F.R.M exam.
I am just curious about this? Who takes this exam and where is it offered?
Thanks.
