1.8% is a respectable rate. Besides, they have more ATM around that make them more convenient than OCBC Bank.

As long as your account is not dormant they will not close your account.

Don't think you get free ATM withdrawal if you use it internationally.

He is referring to foreign banks ATM in Malaysia.

For the True Transact 5-times free MEPS withdrawal, does it apply to foreign banks' ATMs that typically charge RM 4.24?
*
Good question. Need to check the T&C again or write them an email. My SCB JustOne account do reimburse me the fees charged on withdrawals made from local banks' ATM.

Comes with better attractive rate compared to TrueSavers?
*
No. Standard interest rate is only 0.25% and you need to bank-in RM1,500 (must in a single transaction) for that particular month to enable the 1% bonus interest and unlimited interbank ATM cash withdrawals. The is however no 3 withdrawal limit on the savings account a la AmBank TrueSavers.

wow, they charged RM8.48 annual fee without permission onto my true transact account which has 0.00 balance, now I am owing them RM8.48, will they sue me for bankruptcy?
*
Very likely it is a system error. Give them a call and they will reverse it. Or it will just magically disappear in a few days time, just like what i faced last month but that was about them charging me RM5.30 when i transferred some money out from my True Transact account on the first day of June.

Just called them minutes ago, the dude over the phone informed me that in order to keep the account active, the fee is charge 1st, refund later ,
I was told to transfer some money into transact acc, let em charge it, so that it can be reversed.

Should I trust him?
*
That's weird. Perhaps you can call again and see if the next CS will tell you the same thing.

oo, even if you deposit early of the month, they will still charge you then only refund at the end of month too?
*
Yes. They will always deduct the fee from your account balance first and only refund to you at the end of the month which you'll see all the refunds on the first day of every month.

I stay in cheras, the closest SCB branch to me is the SCB Saadiq.
Can we open Just one personal account there?

I saw this branch is not listed in the drop down in the Online Applications.

If I apply online, do I need to visit branch or everything can be done online (like deposit the minimum deposit, delivery of the debit card)
*
Saadiq has a Saadiq JustOne personal account too and the features are the same as the normal JustOne personal account (bonus profit, they call it interest in conventional banking, fee-free MEPS cash withdrawals, free online instant transfer/IBG etc). I have three JustOne accounts (Personal JustOne Account, Preferred JustOne Account and Saadiq Personal JustOne Account).

QUOTE(edwardccg @ Oct 19 2016, 12:23 PM)
I see. same with the TruebyAmbank, still need to visit branch after that.
*
Did you have an active AmBank account when you opened the True by AmBank account ? I already have an AmBank Islamic Basic Savings Account when I opened my True by AmBank account online and everything was couriered to me and I did not have to visit the bank branch anymore. Activation of the True by AmBank debit MasterCard was done with just a phone call to their call centre.

The only ATM near my house is Ambank ATM.

My saving is in Maybank eGIA, similar to most of you all.

There could be a way to get around the annual fee. What you need to do is to open a non-fee Basic Savings Account and cancel and True by AmBank debit MasterCard. The only fuss of course is that you need to transfer money out from your True Account online to your Basic Savings Account before you can withdraw the money. However do note that you only get 8 free ATM cash withdrawals a month.

In the email regarding the new annual fee being introduced to True by AmBank debit MasterCard today, it says that if your True by AmBank debit MasterCard is also linked to a non-fee Basic Savings or Basic Current Account, there shall be no annual fee.

Yes, It's black and white after I saw in their page. But we are forced to use their debit card which I never use it also.

Do you know you can make your monthly payment FOC using the transact account? I put some big amount in there and pay my bills and credit cards from other bank. Anyway, 10sen is money also.
*
From my understanding, come Nov 2016 is considered as first year and every True by AmBank debit MasterCard will get their annual fee automatically waived next month. They will only start charging annual fee from Nov 2017.

Anyway, according to the email they sent to all True by AmBank customers. If your True by AmBank debit MasterCard is also linked to a non-fee basic savings account, the annual fee for the debit card will be waived. So, if you must use this True by AmBank account and do not want to pay for the debit card annual fee, you might want to consider opening a basic savings account and link it to your True by AmBank debit MasterCard.

If you want the free one, go for Standard Chartered JustOne. Free IBFT, Free card. Yes 10 sen is money that is why I open Just One (it have free IBFT which is worth > free IBG)
*
Standard Chartered is not for everyone due to limited branch presence.

That's y they offer free MEPS withdrawal as long as u bank in fresh fund of 1500

The calculative ones still don't want it because withdrawing at a local bank's ATM will incur an upfront cost of RM4.24. I don't understand why but I guess they have their reasons. And of course another reason is because many think from their point of view that everyone lives in the city but there are still many who don't and the closest Standard Chartered Bank branch is probably an hour away. If anything goes wrong with the account and for whatever reason they must settle it at a physical branch, all the so-called savings is probably gone with just a return trip to the branch office. So yeah, Standard Chartered is not for everyone.

Went to the branch to ask how they define the '1st year " fee waiver  ie 1st year from issue of the new ATM cum debit card or 1st year from the date the account was open ?

BM also not sure, so called HQ , after long time talking on the phone, she said... 1st year free is from date of opening of account . So, for me, fee will be chargeable by early Nov when it will considered as going into year 2.

So, yeah, going to close account tomorrow.
*
I got a different black and white reply from AmBank. From the reply i received, come Nov 2016 is considered as first year (as i said in my earlier post) for those who opened the True by AmBank before Nov 2016 or in Nov 2016. Nov 2017 is considered as second year.

QUOTE(Ramjade @ Oct 27 2016, 06:34 PM)
I thought ambank will have customer retention program/ask survey why close account.
*
Customer retention for credit card ? Yes. Customer retention for company current account ? Yes. Customer retention for corporate account ? Yes. Customer retention for PB customer ? Yes but even this is rare. Customer retention for savings account ? No. It's not just AmBank but pretty much all banks do not give a hoot.

Free IBG and IBFT is always there whether or not you make a deposit into your JustOne Personal Current Account.

I could be wrong, but if I transfer money from JustOne Personal Savings Account via IBFT, I will not get free IBFT. Perhaps, as Ramjade said, transfer money from JustOne Personal Current Account via IBFT, to get free IBFT.
*
You can take advantage of the free IBG or IBFT from your JustOne Personal Savings Account too. Free IBG and IBFT work on both JustOne Personal Current Account and JustOne Personal Savings Account. I've been doing this for years smile.gif

QUOTE(kart @ Oct 29 2016, 10:04 AM)
No worries. Yeah, it is better on the safe side. I have been using free IBFT offered by Hong Leong Connect, but the free IBFT is valid till end of this year. Free IBFT by JustOne Personal Account is thus very useful for me.
*
I have been taking advantage of Hong Leong Connect free IBFT since they started this a few months ago. I hope they will extend this free IBFT to end of next year biggrin.gif

QUOTE(kart @ Oct 29 2016, 10:04 AM)
Regarding the minimum amount of money needed to open this JustOne Personal Account, it is mentioned in Page 4 and 8 that no minimum deposit is required. It is definitely cunning for SC Officers to demand RM 1500 for account opening.  bangwall.gif
*
Officially there is no minimum initial deposit required for the opening of JustOne account. Just like my old Standard Chartered e$aver account that I opened back in late 2007, I opened the account with RM0 and even back then, their debit card was already annual fee free. To those of you who didn't know, e$aver was the first high interest bearing savings account and they were giving 8% cash back for all petrol transaction which was very useful back then due to the sudden RM1 increase in petrol price during Pak Lah administration under the advice of our current PM.

Anyway, about a year after this JustOne was on the market, they started asking people to make an initial deposit of 1.5k if you want to open this account. However, as I mentioned, officially there is no minimum initial deposit requirement for the opening of this JustOne account.

We're actually too far off-topic already. For any queries on Standard Chartered JustOne account, please post your questions here. Thanks.
