we fully understand this and problem,
so we must forcus importance area first like semporna and sandakan than expend to all area。 it take time
what i means, we should more focus do protection at border area, bcos it open sea and not much island, much easy to do surveillance and scan. we just need just 2-3 outpost with coast radar than can cover 95% the area， than can reduce work load and crew。
for now seem intruder can cross in border， than depend our island protection。 that already too slow our response if they run back
it seem look like our defense strategic is not that efficiency or correct。

MPA much high cost，patrol time much shorter. need do surveillance over midnight just stress to crew. (assume intruder come at night) 
for semporna area between border is 50x100km area, use drone much for efficient and low cost, just need 3x drone, fly 8 hrs night time everyday. 
off couse still can use PMA if we can get it. but than MPA much suitable deply at bigger sea like SCS and Melaka street

Nothing as expensive and complex as a Predator-like UAV. Just some of those small recon UAVs that have a range of 400-500km and an operating time of 8-10 hours should do it. Something with a direct ELOS (Electronic line-of-sight) datalink ground control instead of a satellite datalink control would be simpler and cheaper.

Meanwhile, Kedah-class OPV still stuck with 76mm gun and cannot upgrade into missile corvette. Why no love, RMN?  Are they destined to remain OPVs forever?

Kesian, RMN buy Kedah-class quite expensive but a bit underwhelming. Like buying a good car, but with no radio, no aircond and no backseat. For now the Kedah-class can only function as oversized patrol vessels with limited capability.

Also installing missile systems onto the OPVs will instantly boost the RMN's firepower. It's almost like buying 6 brand-new missile corvettes.
