Sorry Mike but that is woefully inaccurate.

HP was a reseller for Apple iPods from Jan 2004 to July 2005 when they released their own digital music player (which like many others failed miserably).

For the 18 month period however, Apple iPods were available from the HP retail and online channels in the US with a laser engraving with the HP logo. Obviously it had absolutely NO HP hardware.

A little stingy about getting facts straight, are we? People make mistakes. Practice tolerance and perhaps have some respect for others' faults.

i dont mind sharing knowledge. but when a noob, as he put himself as, blabber rubbish, he deserves to be prosecuted.

why talk when you know nothing? why bother saying something you are not sure of? this is part of the reason why this whole forum is going downhill, while the Apple sub forum is still lively, we dont want any bollocks to ruin it do we?

They went with HP coz wanna tap PC market.. They couldn't go to Dell coz Dell had its own mp3 player already (which is way ugly.. no pun intended for owners) and HP was the next biggest PC seller..

that wasnt a pun to begin with. that's more like a direct insult. do you even know what pun is?

well yeah, except people generally dont think HP is as cool as Apple, so why would they want to get an Ipod with HP engraved onto it? might as well get it from Apple. sigh

I think it's quite remarkable how ubiquitous the iPod has become in five short years. George Bush has one, The Pope has one. I won't be suprised if Osama listens to podcasts too...

The thing that comes to mind when looking at the first-gen and the present iPods is how similar the original design is to the present one. They got most things right from the outset. Did not have to change all that much at all. In fact, they probably made it even simpler to use.

I've no doubt the widescreen iPod is on the way. Looking at the patent diagrams however suggest a completely new user interface with the controls on the side of the device. Lets hope it is usable as the clickwheel. They've got a tough act to follow up to.

The Pope also got his hands on an iPod Nano, loaded with Vatican broadcasts and classical music. No joke.

hmm... the only thing about the HP iPod using 'HP Technology' is that it uses HP iTunes application that benefits those who own a HP Media Centre PC, which has a remote control. This was back in 2004, I believe.
