Going to get this monitor soon among others such as Acer Predator X34P and ROG SWIFT PG348Q 34 as this alienware is much newer model?

Any input or others model i can go for at similiar price range? preferably gsync since i'm using 1080ti, so why not smile.gif

its 34"... its 1440p reso... ips.. 120hz... same with the others...

but more pricey..... i can get a used 1070 with that price diff....

so why this monitor???  hmm.gif
*
Ultra wide - 3440 instead of 2560. = more space than my current 27"
2nd, 4k gaming = SLI, single 1080ti not going to make it. and also, SLI driver/profile is not widely support by dev/gpu maker.
this UWQHD is much easier to support for my gpu while having the ultra wide screen.

Nice monitor @ 120Hz.  I think Acer and Asus is only 100Hz.
He already got 1080Ti, no need the used 1070.  biggrin.gif  I think this Alienware 34" ultrawide will be the best gaming monitor at the moment until the 65" Nvidia BFGD is availabe here in Malaysia, if ever it will.  brows.gif
*
after google around, i'm going for the Asus instead. the Alienware 34" is really like hitting jackpot and somemore the stand connect to monitor is very weak.

I thought Acer has released the later Z35P?  It is VA panel though, not IPS like X34 and Asus PG348.

Yes, Asus PG348Q is really superb!!  Been using it for few months.  Although if its size is 38" ultra-wide and refresh rate at 144Hz then would be PERFECT!!!  biggrin.gif
*
yeah. the downside is native is 60hz panel OC to 100hz compare to AW panel. but QC wise, Asus is the better among 3. The default gamma of 2.6 and no in-monitor software configuration makes me think again which one to go.

In dilemma to pick from this 3 model.. Is it Dell have better customer support?

why Alienware cost 1.1k extra  sad.gif

Dell has a very good customer support and warranty service. i'm using the u2713hm, a great screen that still works great till today.
Alienware branding kut.

at here SG, the pricing between asus and alienware is negligible. the x34p being the cheapest.

Guys, i just gotten the Acer Predator x34p. Love this ultra wide bad boy!!
but i'm playing overwatch and set the reso to the max @ 21:9 - Fullscreen. I encounter constant black screen flickering non stop.

i only able to stop that with switching from Fullscreen to Window / Borderless.

As this is my 1st time Ultra-wide monitor setup, your kind advise is appreciate.
my guess, Overwatch settings does not support true 3440x1440p XD

I had this problem on using remote desktop in full screen , after checking around .. I did a FULLY CLEAN installation(there some guide in google) of nvdia driver solve my problem or you could disable gsync
*
will try around, but borderless screen just solve it XD

QUOTE(edmund_yung @ Aug 20 2018, 12:00 PM)
I'm glad you enjoyed your new ultrawide, and I hope clean installing the driver will solve your problem.
Just want to point out that you might lose slight competitive edge playing Overwatch in 21:9 as the game intentionally cropped top/bottom out for the untrawide experience instead of extending the FOV like some other games. So those playing 16:9 will see more vertically than you do.

Totally fined if you don't mind and enjoying it. smile.gif
*
yeah, found some info on this and bcoz the Bliz team wanted to keep the competitive Balance all round, hence they maintain the FOV the same across all screen size. I can live with this.

QUOTE(draex3 @ Aug 20 2018, 08:19 PM)
wow, that suck isn't it?
The point of getting ultra wide is to get see more things
*
kinda, but just a few games you will bump into issue like MH:World (no UW support XD), but most of the games do support 21:9 UW.

QUOTE(edmund_yung @ Aug 20 2018, 09:49 PM)
I don't think Overwatch will be the only game he play throughout the ownership of his new monitor.
*
the bad is that my right screen is little warmer than my left screen from center POV. it looks just fine if you look at it in the straight line.
God bless there's not a single dead pixel thumbup.gif

For those who own x34p, u guys got do color calibration or not?  hmm.gif
U guys mind share? I follow this setting from tom's hardware - https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/acer-p...tor,5622-2.html
And overdrive have to set to 'normal' because of ghosting.
*
i dont have hardware calibration, so i do follow toms hardware settings at first but my right warm color still very much noticeable.
then i try Hardware unboxed settings and configure abit to my likings.

okay assuming i get a 1070ti.. then what monitor would you recommend? the price hike from 32 inch to 34 inch is quite huge
if i insist on getting 21:9 1440.. do you have any model that wont cause further bank breaking? haha thanks btw
*
how deep is your bank? 34" 1440p really easily touch RM2k just for Freesync with VA panel.

Then whats the most affordable 34 1440p ?
*
i searched around and seems like 34" 1440p 21:9 estimate pricing is really above 2.5k which you can just go with any model available out there that suits you.
while the 2,560 x 1,080 is much cheaper.
you never mention your budget, hence what is your definition of affordable?

I’m guessing you’re looking at the korean va panel at that price point. How does 2560 x 1080 do in a 34 inch monitor. Izzit really that bad?
*
not sure also, never get to see such monitor. but my acceptable lvl for 2560 x 1440 is 27"
