Hello, I am looking to buy LG 29UM68 as my old monitor died.

Anyone here using this monitor at the moment? I have read and watch review about this monitor but it would be nice to hear some feedback from users.

Also anyone know any seller from pahang? kuantan or temerloh area. I kinda paranoid to buy through postage for something this big.

thanks!

I'm a happy owner of the 29UM68 for about 2+ months.

The awesomeness and issues of Ultrawide aside.

I love this monitor to death tbh.

Just some general opinions, nothing in-depth.

-IPS is awesome, viewing angles are fine.
-Freesync @ 40-75hz is a huge plus for an ultrawide at this price.
-Color reproduction wise, I'm no professional but it's fine by me. I did tune the white balance to own liking though. I bet you can find info on this elsewhere.
-Built-in speaker....?  puke.gif IMO, it's not too bad but still it's a freaking monitor built-in speaker.
-Stand is kinda wobbly (but not the worst I've seen) and no height adjustment, nothing compares to the Dell Ultrasharp stands, those are the best I've used. I replaced it with another monitor arm anyway.
-OCD control is one of the best.
-Anti-glare coating is not too aggressive, just nice.
-The bezel is a bit thick (I was accustomed to the U2414H bezels, so yeah), the bezels in the picture are misleading. Don't trust it.

thank you for the feedback! rclxms.gif

I have place an order with local shop, hopefully can get it next week. From what I read, it should be a nice upgrade from TN panel monitor that I use now.

Thanks again smile.gif

Glad it helps you pull the damn trigger sir.  rclxms.gif

Picture quality wise, TN is kinda a no go for me since I'm on IPS.

Enjoy!

received mine. For sure after this cant go back to other than 21:9 ratio lol.
Question, possible to get 75hz 2560x1080 with hdmi cable? or need dp for it to work?
I found a thread in reddit says possible to get 75hz on hdmi, just need to download and install driver from LG website but its like overclocking the monitor so have to bear the risk.

here

if it is against the rule to link to other website i'll bring it down.

tried the above method, tested with dota 2, character movement not smooth as when using 60hz.

Finally got my dp cable. I tried testing with 1hz increment, at 64hz was fine with no frame skip, at 65hz I'm getting frame skip. at 75hz even worst, getting like 1 frame drop at 5th frame.

Is it true with 29UM68 + Nvidia GPU it is kinda hit and miss when you try to use 75hz? some users from reddit reported that they even manage to get it to 75hz using hdmi while some others cant even go beyond 60hz even with dp cable.

I enabled freesync in osd setting, then changed the refresh rate from drop down menu in nvidia control panel

have you tried to update the software? It's probably a hit and miss but I hope a driver can fix these frame drops.

I'll give it a try, havent update the driver since december sweat.gif

it's a long shot but might as well update my driver. smile.gif

edit: tried with latest driver, no luck. Not really a big deal as this monitor exceed my expectations so far. Maybe one day I'll try with amd gpu sad.gif

Hey bro,

I got mine to work without Frame Drops. I turned off FreeSync and restarted my monitor. I then created custom refresh rates via CRU and changed the settings using windows display. I purposely bypassed Nvidia controls just to not mess up things although they're of the same haha! I tried to restart and performed the stress tests. I barely feel the stutter and the motion so far is seamless running at 75hz. I think I can even crank it to 80 but I don't want to stress the monitor that much. Maybe I'll try just to see how it's different from 75hz. Btw, i'm using a Palit 1070.

Thanks for the update. Did you get the CRU from monitortest website ver 1.3? or is there any other up to date place to get the CRU? I have never tried overclocking monitor before so I want to read thoroughly before attempting.

Also, did you install LG monitor driver (from cd or downloaded) or simply using the default pnp generic monitor?

gratz on getting 75hz to work with nvidia gpu rclxms.gif

edit: done some testing and tweaking with CRU, tested with hdmi and dp cable and no luck in eliminating the frame skip. tough luck sweat.gif

I downloaded the driver from the LG site. Using a DP just to make sure I can squeeze enough juice to hit 75 hz. Better make sure you disable Freesync on the monitor before overclocking. I have the latest CRU which is version 1.3 if i'm not mistaken. Once you have successfully created custom refresh rate, click ok then restart your PC. I started OC at 70hz then slowly increased the until I reached 75hz. I haven't really exceeded more than 75hz just to not stress the monitor too much. Try it out bro smile.gif it's more of trial and error. What card are you using btw?

I tried but still have frame skip, maybe im just unlucky lol.
Gonna try a few more times and see if i can get lucky like you.
Im tempted to trade my 1060 for rx480 but the hassle, ughhh rclxub.gif
