Being a PR only benefits your children more. Like me, I'm WAS 2nd generation PR there. I enjoy the same school fee in govt sch like any other Singaporeans, which is like SGD14 per mth. Compared to overseas student paying SGD100 plus each mth.
BUT, in the end, for guys you have to make a decision whether to serve NS. After serving your NS, you are given a choice to take their citizenship or to remain as PR. But bear in mind, being a PR do not give you any benefit like the shares and bonus given out. And also you have to have a job to maintain your PR. By accepting the citizenship, you have to give up your Msian citizenship, and your childen will have to be Sporean and go thru NS. By not wanting to go thru NS, you have to give up your PR
All of my friends will agree that serving NS is a waste of time, they rather go into Uni and get a degree. Those are my Singapore friends (I do not have any friends in Msia at all).
However by not wanting to thru NS, you have to give up your PR status and somehow get blacklisted or marked by Ministry of Defence.
So you see, either way you have to lose something. Staying in Singapore is great, as that is where my family and friends are, and I feel more at home, not that I dislike Msia or anything, and I am not afraid to say that I can't even sing Msia's national anthem nor speak BM, cos where you grow up and spend your best time will always be the place in your heart, but sometimes, things may not turn out to be what you want and you just have to live with it.
So to all those who wants to work and settle in Singapore, you really have to think of your future. For those who just want to work and earn some $$ there, by all means if you think you can save more there.

QUOTE(tkhoo @ Nov 25 2006, 12:27 PM) Hi substance, i thinking to ask for transfer to my Singapore branch office but just check with you as below 1st before decide 1, how fast I can get a PR if I work in Singapore with salary S$4k but without degree? 2, if I get PR how much a month for my kid to join their school ( primary school ) 3, can servive ( sorry, wrong spelling ) with 4k salary with a wife with no working and 3 kid in primary school with rent HDB flat 4, how the CPF and the tax been calculate THNAKS IN ADVANCE Hi tkhoo, I don't think I'm in the right position to answer all your question. But 4K is enough for you to survive. Its consider as middle-income family. PR is subjected, as the policy changes everynow and then. The school fees for govt primary school is cheap. Like I said you will be paying the local rates. I do not know how much it is now. But its definately not a problem. I think if you require more information, you should write in to the immigration dept, they will be able to provide you all the answers.

QUOTE(cjtune @ Jan 4 2007, 02:06 AM) Should be just the usual X-ray for TB, HIV and Hepatitis blood tests. Yes you can have those done in M'sia. Yes, even after getting the job offer, you'd still have to wait for the Ministry of Manpower's approval for your working pass, and no law-abiding S'porean or PR there will rent a place to you if you have no confirmed long-term immigration pass. Your company's HR should keep you updated of the application process of your working pass -most of the time, the HR will do it for you but I've heard of small-time S'porean employers just leaving the entire working pass application process to the candidate employee. No, only only those certified by MOM are allowed, or they won't even accept your medical report. So you CANNOT do it in JB. This post has been edited by substance: Jan 4 2007, 03:53 PM
