When I worked in Singapore back in '99-03, my tax brackets were around 8% (after obtaining PR). Now, with 15% for non-resident, that's still considered low as compare to other countries.

Most MNCs in Singapore has a very good system for performers and if you work hard and smart, you'll get promoted and opportunities for growth will be opened (regardless of racial background or nationality).

For those of you who are in IT, the opportunities in Singapore are still very good (esp. if you have experience).

Singapore's IT infrastructre and network is twice or three times better than the "Multimedia Corridor" that Mahathir as built. I was impressed with most of the MNCs efficiencies, structures, and organisational styles. Yeah, you don't talk too much against their government (like Malaysia anyway) but they're opening up and more aware of their citizens' needs.

My 4 years assignment in Singapore landed me a job in US when the company's US branch has an opening. Looking back, I would rather pay 15% for income tax as foreigner in Singapore than what I am paying in US (31%).

If opportunity arises, I may return to work in Singapore one day. smile.gif
