I guess sometimes its being in the right place at the right time.

For my current company, I applied for their Malaysian subsidiary, but the HR handed my resume to the Singaporean headquarters, and they called me up for an interview.

Yes, I went down from KL to Singapore for the interview. Treat it like a short vacation if you are going down, and maybe you can look around and see if you like the lifestyle there.

Hi.. is there any claims for travelling n accomodation fees if we are asked to attend interview in SG? Or makan sendiri?

I went for an interview today n they offered me the job. However when i requested for an offer letter or appoinment letter, they refused to do so. An interviewer even said that i am 'fastidious'! Dun u think we got the right to request for one in order to avoid misunderstanding and dispute about the terms of job offer?

2nd thing is that they want me to give reply as soon as possible, if possible on tmr! wow.. they said they nd ppl urgently, but i understd that it takes time to process the work pass, i dun wan to end up being illegal worker! Somemore whole interview process took for 3hours... explaining to me possibilities to become a CEO with much effort.. luckily i got asked the most important question.. how many employees in ur organization.. gues wat, it's 5!! Funny la.. ai... i can tell u that i wont take up this job la. The moral of the story is that when u feel uncomfortable with the company, dun force urself in working with them or just for the sake of the salary smile.gif

*btw, d interviewer nv even mention abt d salaryb4 he offered me the job! think im lulu... duh~

Nak tanya..

Today i get an employment offer from a company frm Sg. I was required to sign an employment contract n to undergo pre-employment medical check-up, my question is:

1. Usually how long does it takes to process EP? Is there any case where the employee allowed to work even before they get the pass?

2.How's the medical check up like ar? Will underweight be a prob?? tongue.gif

Thanks~

Save ah, I think a bit hard... I hear my fren working there saying that he eat bread everyday..... like that only can save o sad.gif
sad... aizz.....
*
Eat bread on everyday?! So terrible? U mean breakfast is it? haha.. I think the overall depends on how much u earn per month and the way u spend the money and allocating it for savings etc.. If the company got provide housing subsidy or accomodation, that would definitely helps a lot in saving some $. The company that currently offering me the job provides $600 housing allowance, which is very good.

Lolz...lucky after i graduate, i straight go SG work, so my salary wont convert to RM...will applying PR later, coz ard to find a better job if u are not a PR....IMO la..
*
Why PR can get a better job? What about those who've been working in Sg for few years? PR status more important than working experience? One of my frens who works in Sg was requested by his company to apply for PR after working for half year, and this is compulsory for them. Yet, he wasnt that happy coz he needs to contribute for CPF and in Sg.. you just wouldnt know how long u'll have to wait to get that money since the retiring age keeps extending cry.gif pros & cons of PR?

Hi, all.

I've received several calls from the recruiment agency and they told me that 2 months notice period is too long. The clients wanted me to buy myself out. Did anyone of you encounter this? Are your employers willing to wait for your notice period? I just feel that it's not worth it to buy myself out....however, I'm letting go a lot of chances. sad.gif

Also, do you guys state your current salary in RM? How to you estimate the expected salary in SGD? Let's say my salary is RM3000 now.
*
U need to do a research based on ur job field, working experience as well as ur status as a foreigner as in approximately earn how much for that particular post per month. After all, S'pore & Msia are 2 different countries with different living standard. It's advised to ask those ppl who've been working in sg and in that particular field.. thumbup.gif good luck!

Hey gal.. good to hear that u've found urself a job in Sg! Im in same situation as u too.. waiting for EP to be done (it's the 3rd wk already!! im very excited to join my first job after grad!).

I think places which near to mrt and with general facilities will be a good place.. most important of all is about finding food & getting public transport!

I've got my EP finally! Will move to s'pore on monday & start work on tues.. Hopefully working in s'pore is not as stressful as all other saying la~ (Even the banker also told me so while i was trying to open an account in a bank). Go enjoy photography after work *dreaming*

Part of the reason dat i intend to work in S'pore is dat Msia has sucks public transport system! No car cannot survive at all.. Things changed nowadays.. last time, people work hard hard for the sake of buying a car to reward themselves. Now?! U must at least get a car first before u can get a job & start working in Msia. *geleng kepala* Everything on rise.. toll, petrol then car maintenance fees $$$

p/s: btw, any dslr users here? looking forward to try it la..

I've signed up for Singtel line.. then I just realised that there r this CORPORATE PLAN which allows u to pay at lower fees under the same plan. It depends on which company that u work for and the fees varies accordingly.I chose the economic plan at $25+ with 100min talk time and 500 sms.. then under this corporate plan i only have to pay for $15/mth with same talk time n total of sms.

So i think it's always good to ask abt the telco company if ur company has offer this CORPORATE plan. Save whole lots of money man!

How u all spend ur weekend in Singapore?

I realised that the Community Centre of each area has their own programmes for the community. Eg: Abseiling, swimming, bowling, slow walking, cycling programmes etc.. depends on what they offer la. Then the fees r kinda reasonable. Go & try out la.. dun just stay at home sleep & online oni!

p/s: There is a dog show/championship in Leisure Park (Kallang) today from 11-8pm.. so cool to see cute doggies.. im going later!!

the other thing you should take note of is the SMS charges to Malaysia.. it's quite expensive !!! i spend SGD 35 alone on SMSes back to Msia sad.gif

Why not just use the IDD card to make phone call back to msia instead? It's less than $0.10/min.. of coz u'll hv to pay for local call charges as well. Ok wat.. biggrin.gif
