as i know from my friend as a degree holder with no exp work as a engineer basic salary is >3000 sg right?

Depends... some of the India engineers I work with I noticed have only S-passes, and they have experience. That means they earn <S$2500. You'll have to compete with them. I was lucky to start off years ago at slightly higher than dictated by the Employment Pass, but still <S$3000 at that time. Today, I don't think it's a sure thing you will start off >S$3000. Will vary from company to company. MNC's pay more than local firms for sure.

Is it possible to live with S$600 a month? a room would have cost you 400-500 a month already isn't it?
*
Yes possible. Ask around and you may yet find rooms at S$2xx, more so if you have some sort of sharing arrangement with a room mate. My room which is like very near Harbourfront MRT and is 4x5 m^2 = only S$400...

Another recourse is to live in JB and commute everyday to work. I have colleagues who do this not because they want to save money but their immediate family is in JB and they drive daily.

so does it prove that only those who are good in academic can do good in sg? but not those who might not study well but then changed later or actually street smart than book smart?
*
There is something sort of fallacy about inferring general relationships from success stories. You only see what you wanted to see, and show others what you want them to see.

You can't say that NOT going to school is the key to success because so 'many' rich buggers were academic failures.

So basically the Olivia example was cited because someone had a beef with the M'sian scholarship award system, to prove her point it's unfair and that M'sia has lost out on an exemplary character because of this. But, it's only one example, and the connection of Olivia's success to the Sg scholarship is not strong: she might have succeeded anyway without the scholarship - unless there is existing data to show a strong correlation between receiving scholarships and (financial?) success in life.

My employer had been offering me a high pay, supplied me a car and bear the rental of a luxury condominium which is located at Bugis Junction. I still chose to come back malaysia. A high quality living doesn't means a better life. Lot of malaysians thinking about they can earn a lot of money in singapore and own their business in malaysia once they earn enought of singapore dollars.
Think about this, how many years are you going to spend in singapore? You already lost all the network & information in malaysia market when the years you spent in singapore.
So small place , not everyone can owned a car , time is being controlled by public transport, no mamak, strictly public rules, lifeless creature. I am really wondering any malaysian will love to stay in this bored place.

I still prefer to my country , malaysia.

I used to know someone who bought MY car and drive back to SG.  However, then he was working in Johor.  Trouble is, he has to corss back to MY every 2 weeks according to him.  I had not met him since.  ITs already more than 10 yrs.

Hmm, maybe 10 years ago rules were different I guess.
Now, even my PR colleagues who live in JB but work in S'pore have to drive S'pore-registered cars.
There is a way to convert an initially MY-registered car to a S'pore-registered car but I don't know the details but you definitely have to pay for the COE and whatever LTA assessments and eventually it's not any cheaper than having bought your car in S'pore.
