i just install intel drivers (inf, rst, mei, igpu) and reboot. then install nvidia modded driver and reboot. the rest i use windows updates to find appropriate drivers for me. (as long as there is no exclamation marks in device manager i'm good lol)

in terms of laptops, these days i only use aw18 for gaming.

er the one i had previously should be either aw command center or osd. i used the w8.x version from dell. install .net framework 3.5 from programs and features, then install those. all are good here.

wait, are you using 120hz screen or 60hz? it worked on the one with 60hz screen.

to me aw m17x r4 (60hz screen with gpu mod), and asus g55 are among the older machines that can run w10 without issues. most drivers are ready. g55 is the machine i used to test tech/insider previews before w10 launch. after that i used aw18 for testing (to check sli compatibility).

You sure? PK3 work very well for me. PK3 is another choice for me other than IC Diamond and GC Extreme. I think you might just put too much of the Thermal Paste? Thermal paste will become worst if you apply too much.

pk3 should be about the same as gc-extreme, but it's just like ok for me also. gc-extreme imo is more efficient. however i didn't dip the tube into hot water when i apply pk3 so i might be wrong. i do that to gc-extreme. it has better results in my laptops and desktops, for cpu and gpu (all uses dot method).
i have tried liquid ultra. the results are better than gc-extreme, but the thing about metal pastes is that when it dries, it's hardened making it very hard to remove. you need sand papers to polish your heat sink to make it good again.

yes, i have checked out similar reviews also. tbh, most of them deliver similar results imo. the delta difference between them is insignificant.

however for some reasons not all thermal pastes deliver same outcomes for a particular cooling system (eg. laptop cpus have die exposed; desktop cpus are covered with ihs) for laptops, what i found was that gc-extreme works better. maybe that's just me so, get whatever you think is good for you lol!

I don't think there are tripple heat pipe CPU heatsink of M17x R4 ever exists.

But the fan mod will surely help a lot on the cooling.

I think the fan is good. Search with the reference part number should get the right stuff usually.

Damn. You reminded me that i still haven't installed my 3-heatpipe cpu heatsink in my aw18.

notes: this is the key driver list that you need to install w10 on a m17x r4. i have changed my gpu from 680m to 880m, and my wifi nic to intel 7260-ac. everything works fine.

1. intel_chipset/inf - the latest from intel works;
2. intel_rst - use rapid storage driver for w8.1 from m17x.r4 driver page;
3. intel_mei - the latest from intel works;
4. audio - use audio driver from w8.1 from m17x.r4 driver page; to get sound blaster trustudio, you extract the audio driver into a directory, run the setup.exe inside it, and select the options you wanna add. by default, only the driver is installed.
5. intel igpu - the latest from intel (hd4000) works;
6. nvidia gpu - the latest from geforce.com works;
7. st.microelectronics.free.fall.sensor (ffs) driver - use the driver for w10 at aw18 driver page;
8. synaptics touchpad driver - use the driver for w10 at aw18 driver page;
9. aw.osd - use the osd application for w8.1 from m17x.r4 driver page;
10. aw.command.center - use the one for w8.1 from m17x.r4 driver page;
11. realtek.lan - w10 has it.
12. wifi/bt - in my case, w10 has it.

You probably got the update package instead of the installer app. When you got the driver version for your OS, click "view details". Try install the one with file format "hard drive".

At least this solved my issue last time.
