Came to conclusion that any brand slot loading internal sata with height of 12.7mm should work for M17xR4. Hopefully I am right as already ordered this *fingers crossed*

good luck. i think it's 12.7mm slot loading too but i'm not sure because i took them out long time ago.
to get the best results, both ssds should be identical. if the included ssd is smaller then you will get a raid with smaller capacity x2, with the slower speed x2 (if it's a raid 0). i think you can still use the left-over space normally. (should be able to regain it via disk management)

the better thing about ssd raid is that it doesn't need to be from the same brand or model. i once set up 1x plextor m5m (msata) with ocz vertex 4 (sata) in g55. they worked.

Replaced my speaker and optical drive successfully smile.gif, And yes the speaker issue was indeed hardware, that cracking non clear sound was because the rubber probably got warm and hard n teared for my right speaker. Optical drive is now replaced to a BD drive! (y) everything works like a charm, M17xR4 (h)

I am currently using AC 7260 which if im not mistaken is dual band. I am looking for a tri band AC adapter for my M17xR4 as I purchased Asus AC 5300 recently. So I was wondering if IntelĀ® Tri-Band Wireless-AC 18260 would work on my laptop, also if it's worth the upgrade. Any feedback is highly appreciated smile.gif

you cannot put it into m17xr4 because it's in m.2 form factor.
*
Sigh lol. Any other tri band AC adapters?

I have no idea hehe (until i wanna get new laptops lol) i think from the trend they are going for m.2 form factors mostly.

tbh ac-7260 is good enough to me. I use ethernet most of the times these days.

Edit: actually 18260 is a 802.11ad adapter. For .ac functionality it's still dual band. (Max at 867Mbps)
*
Better to stick with 7260 then. Thanks smile.gif

Glad to hear it. The memory card slot affected?
*
Nothing affected. Although you need to take out the dummy memory card before you remove the casing. I also replaced my speaker set too as one of them was making cracking sound due to rubber breakdown.

guys my m15x alienware laptop motherboard had overheated and the cost of repairing is RM350. I need some advice whether to repair or change a new PC. Firstly I didnt want to repair it is because I'm afraid the issue of overheating will come back after sometimes, and the service is only providing me 3 month of warranty.
*
My suggestion would be to find out what is causing the over heating?, the obvious would be the processor or the GPU then check on the thermal paste situation on them and also the cooling fans whether they are clean and the rpm are good. Clean the heat sinks too. If still the problem persists. It is wise to rather buy a new motherboard from taobao.com. It might cost the same as getting your existing motherboard repaired.

Thanks for the reply. What about the warranty? Can I claim the warranty if the battery died again? I used to buy keyboards from Taobao during the time when there were only limited supply of mechanical keyboard in Malaysia. Got the faulty one after a week of usage.

I wonder whether if I buy from Taobao, will they charge me the tax for the item.
*
No tax. As for warranty depends on the seller. I've bought a lot of stuff from taobao. 8 out of 10 items are good.

Hi,

Planning to buy an Alienware laptop. May I know where in Malaysia can I upgrade the laptop parts like graphic card? So far search through Dell site only have hard disk available.

Thanks
*
Erm Nvidia just announced 1080 1060 and 1070 for laptop. These are desktop grade cards. Rightnow I am not sure whether these cards can be upgraded or not. I mean if you're looking to buy the latest Alienware in a month or two.
