Hi all,

My issue happen again when I shut down my pc for like 3 weeks.

Basically before this my pc was working fine after almost 1 year having last issue like this. Yeah I didnt turn it off even once this 1 years because Im afraid this thing to happen again and I no longer required to go outstation anymore (luckily some more no blackout).

3 weeks ago I need to go outstation far away for 3 weeks and I decided, lets try shut it down this time and I also switch off the power at power socket. 2 days ago, come back here try to turn it on and now it happen again.

My issue abit similar like above. Turn on the desktop, can see LED light like 0.5sec, can hear loud fans and suddenly it die. Keep looping up till 20mins or so then only can start up properly. While using the desktop, it could goes randomly restart and problem above happen again.

Could be problem with my PSU, could be problem with CMOS battery also. Im not sure about my alienware x51 though cos never try to fully open it (just clear the dust only before this). My X51 almost 3 years old now.

So how do I find the CMOS battery in my X51? It seem sooo pack inside the cpu. Got easier way to reach it so that I can try test it out with new one?

Can I just order new PSU from Dell?

P/S: I recall that one of my friends got this problem also (same alienware model but much older version)

hai there.

fellow X51 owner here. mine is the R2 version, bought sometime in mid-2014

X51 CMOS battery looks like this:

it is sticking on the inside of the I/O ports (notice that yellow thingy in the pic below) and you should be able to reach it once you removed the CPU fan scoop:

So I just unplug it and plug it back (if want to try with existing cmos battery).
You know where I could get the cmos battery for x51?
