Heres my experience over the years:

ON Gold Standard Whey - watery. But tats how i like it.

ON Nitrocore24 - thick, since its a combo protein formula.

Gaspari MyoFusion - thickest combo, like milkshake. I think the probiotics gave me some runs.

BSN Syntha-6 - a watery combo. Great taste. I like this.

Nutrabolics Isobolic - sweet combo. Cant remember anything good/bad about it.

MHP Probolic-SR - worst tasting combo. yuck.

RonnieC Pro-Antium - ok combo. Got little bits of wafer/cookie in it.

Nutrabolics Mass Fusion - thick gainer, super sweet.

Elite Mass Muscle Gainer - another thick n super sweet gainer.

Dymatize Elite Whey - similar to ON GSW, but very sweet.

Dymatize Elite Mass - a watery gainer, almost tasteless compared to others. I like this. flex.gif

Happy chugging cool2.gif

CnT Are all of these available in Msia? Roughly how much for ON Gold Standard 2/3kg?

Newbie here, thinking of getting some protein powder but not sure which. Reviews for the ON Gold Standard are pretty good!

What about Dymatize Nutrition Elite Whey Protein Powder? Looking at Amazon, they are priced similarly..

mocha cuppocino is above average

dymatize elite whey and ON 100% whey is not priced similarly, dymatize is definitely cheaper than ON.

but quality wise both are the best in the market.

You need to read a lot on nutrition. Proteins are not magic muscle builders, and you being big has nothing to do with protein supply. The stickies are here to help. Then look up on why you need/don't need protein shakes. This article by BB gives a good insight:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/why-you-need-whey.html

If you can't be bothered to read, then I'm sorry to say that there is no other way we can help you out.

No you gt it wrong in fact there's misunderstood here. Have you actually read the word "supplements'? There's no such thing as supplement can help u grow muscle faster. Nutrition is the main thing and the key of everything. If your nutrition is whacked then ur won't getting gainz

you're 112kg ,im imagining you fat. if i were you, i wont be worrying bout protein so much.

you need to cut your fat, use google to calculate the amount of calories you need to maintain you current weight (BMR and TDEE), use that as a guideline, and eat lesser than that calories amount. we call it calories deficit. cut your fat first, then only your inner muscle will show. until then only worry bout your daily protein intake.

What he said ^ was half right.

1) You need to know your TDEE and eat slight lower to have a deficit. You will lose weight by doing so.
---> http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=156380183 OR you can use MyFitnessPal ( http://www.myfitnesspal.com/ )

2) Read up what are macro & micronutrients
---> http://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=2845231

3) The reason your friend is making gainz because he fulfilled his macro. You eating 5-6 eggs definitely not enough to hit your protein goal at your weight.
Refer to 1) to find out how much macro (carbs/protein/fat) that you need to hit daily.

4) Do you need protein supplement? Refer to 3). If you can hit your macros by eating FOOD only, then protein shakes will NOT be necessary.
---> A dietary supplement is intended to provide nutrients that may otherwise not be consumed in sufficient quantities.

I do hope you spend 15 mins reading those links provided above.

protein supplement is only needed when you're not eating enough protein from your daily food. it is not neccesarily needed.

but it has been a trend now ppl still drink protein shakes whether or not ppl had enough protein intake from their daily food.

track your food macronutrients (broscience again im sorry). you can use fitnesspal apps to see the nutrients in the you took daily. from there to see how many proteins, carbohydrates, fats you eat daily. and from there also you know how much total calories you took to reach your goal. in your case, calories deficit.

sorry, beginners just have to digest all this, cause you google everywhere or reading stickies here, they all just came up somewhat things like i said.

Try a keto diet. Lots of people have had success with it especially really overweight ones as it's damm effective since your body is actively burning body fat.

Low Carb is the new healthy and proven lifestyle icon_rolleyes.gif

Keto is a low carb, medium protein and high fats diet.

You did low carb intake? If you have a low carb intake, where do you think your body gets energy from? It's either from fats or protein. The last thing you would want is your body using protein as energy source via Glycogenesis.

Atkins/Keto diet advocates eating high healthy fats such as saturated, monosaturated and polyunsaturated fats.

http://www.youmeworks.com/whylowcarb.html

It's not just workout, if you think it's the most effective then you're wrong. It's a combination of 3:

Nutrition (the food you eat) + workout + Sleep

It's not just workout, if you think it's the most effective then you're wrong. It's a combination of 3:

Nutrition (the food you eat) + workout + Sleep
*
I believe it's glucaneogenesis . Glycogenesis is the synthesis of glycogen from glucose with the help of insulin . Correct me if I'm wrong lol.

sad truth, started research and read stickies. back then finish 1 tub also minimal small gain

now i know how important nutrition is, previously cut this food cut that food drink protein thinking its easy gain but failed doh.gif

Protein drink is not magic, it doesn't turn you buff overnight. Just take it as a supplement, especially during workout days.

And you need quality sleep also. No matter how good your nutrition is or how intense your workout is, if you don't have adequate and quality sleep, you're not gonna see the result smile.gif

You can check out some of the online store.

https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1783620

Pls dont buy it from GNC. Overpriced products.

ON Gold Standard is on par with Dymatize Elite. Both of them are good. biggrin.gif Some might said Dymatize is bang for the buck.
Personally, Im using ON bcos it is less sweeter than Dymatize's Elite Whey. I dont like sweet stuff.
You could try both. biggrin.gif

Currently I'm only using ON gold standard protein powder mostly for my workout days. Do you guys use something else like Casein or BCAAs ?

I asked staff at GNC once about that matter, he said there already is BCAA in the whey , just that not that much.

Is it worthwhile to buy standalone BCAA to supplement our whey?
Damn means i wasted buying one tub of musclepharm whey if u guys said it is spiked amino mostly.

There's no specific protein for bulking or cutting. Protein is protein.

Well if you have the money then why not but what is your purpose of getting BCAA?
