i actually applied for internship in a wellhead maintenance company in kemaman,
from what i know after i asked around, yea the prospects of wellhead maintenance is very good,
oil price doesnt really impact them much because wellhead and christmas tree maintenance is part of the regulation,
same as aircraft maintenance industry, to fly an aircraft an LAE must ensure the aircraft is airworthy..
i was inform there are 766 strings in peninsular malaysia alone.. and all of these need maintenance..

the company actually is an wellhead OEM, they involve in design and produce their own philosophy manuals ,they fabricate and also do maintenance for existing wellheads which i believe many are older than our grandmother..
for the installation at the platform part i dont really know whether they do or not..
yea i dont expect a practical student able to go offshore, as people going offshore i believe must attend special course from niosh, etc.. correct me if i am mistaken..

so if the job prospect doesnt do offshore work, is it not good interms of the money?

overall the drilling supp dictates a lot of things with his DE's aid la. but seriously they making themselves look like amateurs with some of their decision making.

Guys I got meng in chemical engineering. Was having career break for years now its time to work. So forgive my zero experience. Im wondering if oil n gas still relevant as the price keep shooting down. And what would be tthe suitable position for me to apply ? I tried saja2 apply after graduation, thru their websites, but no responses, or my application always failed. Petronas haliburton etc. Some friend sometime passed me emails of recruiters, but all seemed wanting experienced ones. So, is there like im missing something in my cv that make my application rejected. I also saja2 applied to like small company before, oil gas consultant, they responded but I'm not sure if its a good place to start. What position should I really consider. How much can I asked for my starting salary. Or should I not bother much of the salary since I got zero experience in this field. I'm really looking forward to start my career next year. And, another dilemma. I got offer from a prof from nearby universities for PhD . I told him I can't because I plan to work soon. But he insisted and said this research won't bother me much, its will be related to my future work and he promised it will so flexible to my working hour. He offered me doing a research health safety in oil gas. So, im wondering how oil gas companies here responded to if I do a PhD and apply to work as well. Or should I just keep quiet about it when applying for the job.

I had to join another industry, fail to land a job back into O&G. No job is out there. Most company will say O&G ppl have very high pay we cant afford to pay you guys and you guys will leave the company once the industry recover back. They are worry to hire O&G ppl.

Same here, finally got a job in a different industry after 9 months of job searching and countless interviews.
As the saying goes, beggars cant be choosers.

I'm having a phone interview with BP tomorrow, one of the panel is from BP Singapore. I do know that BP in Malaysia has one petchem at Kerteh (BP Acetyls) and lube blending & tank farm at Port Klang - besides its Shared Services operation at Midvalley. Its a one year contract. None Upstream division for Malaysia.

If let say the roles is for Shared Services operation, what are the things that I need to know? Honestly, I have zero knowledge on shared services environment, perhaps anyone can shed some light? Did a quick search, and Malaysia is the BP C&P regional for APAC. Apa yang perlu saya tahu pasal C&P in shared services? Saya tak tahu P2P stuff. All this while, my C&P experience is on project environment - construction & fabrication.

Hope that this roles is for project. If so, any new greenfield/brownfield expansion project by BP Malaysia?

Bro, I was interviewed for BP SC role in KL. Passed the tele-interview, F2F interview, IQ test but had to reject the offer.

They didn't ask much about the SC environment as I myself admit that I didn't know much about it. They asked more about your knowledge in your field and your exact experience. They also will try to link their company values during the interview and see how much do you potray that in your daily working tasks.

Done the phone interview yesterday, its for their lube blending plant at Port Klang. Another greenfield expansion project.

What I meant SC is Shared Centre. I was interviewed for a Senior HR role.

Hurm, actually they offered me a good 20% increment however my company counter offered me with 33% increment with an upgrade of level.

Its a tough call for me as I kinda like their environment/practice as I can learn all the best back end practice in BP but you can only last maximum 2-3 years in SC before you get bored. Its the same specialized routine. Thats what scared me the most. They also unable to wait for an additional 1 month as I'm waiting for my backdated increment which amounting to 5 figures.

Anyway cut story short, I rejected their offer. Well just a heads-up, if you rejected their offer you will be blacklisted for 2 years. Hehe..
