I still don't understand, how can competitor decide who to hire in their company. It's not like a join venture or subsidiary. It's 2 separate and different entity..

Reading this makes me feel glad I left the industry 6 years ago to join an investment bank as a trader on the dealing desk. I nearly turn down the offer when I heard about how hard I have to work.

Oh man you won't believe it. The girls in the department that consult with clients are off the charts in looks. They are ambitious, aggressive and incredibly pretty.

It doesn't hurt after a long day starring at multiple screens.

I was in Singapore for a few years with an American ib (One of those known IB you probably heard about) before I join an American hedge fund but base in their Malaysian branch a few years ago. So I never work for a Malaysian ib. (Now my company plans to close their malaysia branch and merge them with their Singapore branch by the end of this year so I will have to be back there again..)

Ib is very hard work and usually people only work until 40 years old but by that time they are multi millionaires and that is in USD not rm. Their commission after every deal with clients is between tens of thousands to tens of millions. I got bored working the dealling desk in Singapore like I got bored doing wireline in SLB my attention span is too short to do the same thing day in day out. Hedge fund (quant fund) seems to jive well with my character so far. Everyday is a different day here.

Edit: I use to joke with my ex colleague saying that had I stayed on longer on the dealling desk I would have turn into a rogue trader out of boredom and would have brought down the whole bank like how barings bank was brought down by a trader turned rogue in the 90s. So it was really for a charitable cause that I left.

Well, you think of it, I'm doing quite well with my hawker job now, is tiring but at least less headache.
Want to survive, join political party, then you can secure a position, else just wait for your time to get kicked out.
But the problem is, head hunters are hunting for me.

I also got offer recently via Linkedin. Someone from HR PETRONAS asking me either want to join the organisation which based in Kerteh for Downstream

After a month submit CV to him, straight go to TA and SI. Luckily passed all the iview. Unfortunately the offer not  so good which reduction from my current salary.

Since I am working as contract staff now and the business in Upstream not so good,I might think to take permanent role's but reduction of the salary.   

My company gave on average 3-5% increment to average staffs. The top technical staffs are getting around 10% increment.

I myself managed to get 12% increment this year. Syukur..

Apparently the chairman felt that the company need to reward the employees during bad turbulent times so the employees will remember the company during the good times. Is it a good move? Financially I don't think so but as a staff, hell yeah!!

Guys is AED 38,000 per month salary is good enough for living at Abu Dhabi? Accommodation & transportation included, the only drawback its single package. One year contract.

My only worry is the roles is not under the client payroll but it will be under pak arab punya third manpower company. I read some of horror story by those pak arab third party manpower bayar gaji lambat, and some cases tak bayar langsung.
