but the major flaw with that HDD cage is that the cage vibrates like hell....
*
i won't consider it major if it was for the sound as the solution for it is easy, just get the screws that comes along with those rubber rings... now what about the air flow, what method do we have to solve it laugh.gif

fyi, the reason why i give a damn on the intake fan so so much is bcoz of the (exlain below) & the whining sound produce (like i experienced it with my V600 + Vizo Starlet --> can't stand it anymore vmad.gif )

QUOTE(sniper on the roof @ Apr 16 2007, 02:23 PM)
Cos LL's using another one of those weird airflow theory of theirs again... the rear fan supposed to be intake wor...

http://www.lian-li.com/product/product06.p..._index=4&type=a
*
yup, ur rite, LL using another weird air flow the case...

for me that method can only be use in the old days, where CPU is the hottest component, today VGA took its place, so u gonna need all the air flow u can get laugh.gif

hmm.gif CPU = 90nm --> 60nm --> 45nm --> 32nm (cooler cooler cooler)
hmm.gif VGA = power --> power + power --> power + power + power (hotter + hotter + hotter)

Hi All,

Mind to advice me on what CPU cooler that I can use together with Fan Duct for casing Lian Li V1200B Plus II?

Appreciate you guys's reply. I am looking for a CPU cooler to replace the Intel C2D original HSF.
*
all the cooler like Zalman Flower Type will fits ur description
1. Zalman Flower Type Cooler
2. Thermaltake Blue OrbII
3. Thermalright XP-120
4. Cooler Master Gemini II

other words, look for a cooler that is not the tower type cooler & is a cooler which got a fan blowing towards the mobo, that's the main purpose of the air duct, to provide the cooler a direct fresh air blowing towards it instead sucking the air into it nod.gif

QUOTE(Doom @ Apr 22 2007, 12:46 PM)
Thermal Right HR-01 .... it has fan duct and work well with the 12cm rear exhaust ..
*
errr, not those HR-01 fan duct la, i think he meant the Lian Li Fan Duct like this:

i thought u are one of the Lian Li freaks should have known better which fan duct he was talking about laugh.gif

LL windowed sidepanel cost RM150 at ATE. nice but i suggest u custom mod it. get custom cut and be more satisfied. besides, wut u gonna do wit ur existing sidepanel when u buy new one? hee.. tongue.gif
*
errr, ur case got higher 2nd hand value than modded case with the same type nod.gif

although u spent RM300 on modding alone doesn't increase your 2nd value case when u decided to sell em nod.gif cause when u mod, u mod it with your preference, what if the buyer doesn't like your preference? blink.gif plus if u sell em expensively, the buyer better opt to buy a new one laugh.gif

when u buy the seperate transparent side panel, u can keep em and use em on ur new case, this is one of the bestest tongue.gif thing with Lian Li, their transparent side panel are all fitted with the same dimension or class, like V-Series with other V-Series, or Classic Series with other Classic Series. Don't u think so blink.gif

QUOTE(vincent09 @ Apr 26 2007, 07:42 AM)
Hmm hope so i can easily install my new rig in to that PC-60b.
I c a acessorry > wheel. Is it  i can install in on my pc-60b ? or just for v1000?
*
those wheels can only installed with those case that originally comes with the wheels

but u still can use em, have to mod la of course laugh.gif

fyi, the wheels alone cost around RM300 (ask ATE if don't believe me), but if u buy from those US Online Shops, only cost u around RM150 (got black color somemore with those rubber strap around the wheels --> avoids starch on the wheel & ur desk/floor)

i ask ATE directly (not by phone) can't remember which one lor sweat.gif
dat's when i wanna buy V600 & still have some money, decided to buy/order the wheels, they said RM300 shocking.gif like fxxk man, like dat better i buy the V1000, same price if i buy V600 + wheels doh.gif

dat was last year, dunno but today, seems some of forumer here said is RM150+ shocking.gif walo, dat's damn cheap thumbup.gif even cheaper than buying from those Online Shops rclxm9.gif

yea.. i think since the promotion, LL case got more attention at LYN.
more shops selling LL now..
just hoping LL release more new products.

their design is perfect already, they just need to add/change some features only, dat's all rclxms.gif

Doom can i ask 1 thing? About your v1000 that side case fan ( moveable ) is it u use normal case fan screw fo screw it or?...
*
original fan (Lian Li default fan) use thumbscrew, dunno what's the best use of it doh.gif

the purpose of it to ease the fan move aside left-to-right or right-to-left

who's the hell wanna move their fan 24/7 + not to mention have to remove ur side panel first doh.gif doh.gif

QUOTE(vincent09 @ May 21 2007, 12:54 AM)
If for normal Lian Li that moveable case fan, the fan inside got a metal thing and can use the case panel screw to screw it, but after we change the case fan we don't have that metal thing and cant use that case panel screw....
*
  1. Those default fan got a nut that is fit for the thumbscrew thread (M3 thread)
  2. If wanna use different fan = take out the nuts & put them into ur new fan
  3. Instead using that stupid thumbscrew, just buy those long screws + their nuts, better bring along those fuc*in ugly side case fan metal thingy part to the shops & test the screws & nuts --> make sure not too short & not too long thumbup.gif

*
tell me how often u change the graphic card's cooler? coz from ur statement:

"i like to move the fan to fix the place which is the near my GC card fan"

seems to me that:

  1. u always change ur vga cooler
  2. then u have to move the case fan --> get closest to ur cooler's fan laugh.gif
  3. so tell me how often u change ur vga cooler till u have to move ur case fan that often

now ain't i'm rite? blink.gif

QUOTE(vincent09 @ May 21 2007, 09:20 AM)
I can't take out the thumbscrew nut out from that LianLi' case fan because is already stick inside with glue.....
*
u can take it out, by force la wink.gif

use force strong enough to let the nut out thumbup.gif

there's no other way for u to use the thumbscrew on the fan except by taking the original Lian Li nut... whistling.gif

& don't even think u finding the nut at the hardware shop, damn hard, anyway gud luck if u intend to find it whistling.gif

I just say i like that setting for that moveable case fan, if you don't like i also nothing to say XD.
*
then whether u like it or not, only two option for u coz the liking of your's towards the moveable fan:

  1. either use the original Lian Li fan until it dead rclxm9.gif or

  2. take the nut by force & put em on other fans rclxm9.gif

QUOTE(vincent09 @ May 21 2007, 10:13 AM)
By force? i think havn't push out that nut already spoil.
*
don't push through the thread hole doh.gif of course the thread will spoil one, push on the side of the nut, dunno what to use, just apply same pressure on the nut's side (not front & back) right & left

i'm sure it won't spoil the nut, then u just have to glue it to ur new fan

let me makes things clear for u, whether u like it or not, the nut must be taken out & if u afraid to spoil the nut & rather use the original fan instead, go ahead, use em till it will be dead, then when wanna replace the fan u know u can't use the thumbscrew on the new fan, so regardless what fan u wanna use on that moveable fan slot, the nut must be taken out, just matter of time for the nut to be taken out

later i'll post pic of mine side fan, what i use to replace those stupid thumbscrew tongue.gif

they shocked bcoz brows.gif they never seen such thread --> so small & halus...
they said to me, they never even sold or seen that kind of thread b4, i dunno is it my hardware shop area, or all hardware shop in M'sia, so gud luck finding one thumbup.gif

okay here's what i did to replace the thumbscrews rclxms.gif
the screws are just nice to fit those tiny long holes, i didn't hear any vibration coz i screwed the fan tight, & i mean tight till the fan frame bent a bit, not too tight though, otherwise ur fan will break biggrin.gif

nah laugh.gif still can mod it using magnet or screw

the plastic material use inside lian-li casing is very low grade. even my dust filter frame also can notice slightly cracked due to heat.

anywhere, my casing lasted longer than i expected.(bought in 2001)

even the new lian-li casing still using the plastic clip??? that's just suck.

one thing for sure, u can get a full alumunium casing under RM300, while other brand u need RM450 and above.

alluminuim advantage over SECC steel, they dont get rust and absorb heat better, easy to mod(*), lighter. so u can use them like year(s)
*
laugh.gif better have a strong magnet to hold that heavy front panel

The mesh filter comes originally with the LL casing. At least on my PC-7. The problem is, if you take the filter out, it will leave a very big hole at the rear. I also changed it to fan grills cause the mesh filters are blocking alot of air but it doesnt looks nice..
*
dat's what i said earlier, replace the mesh filter with fan grills on all exhaust fans...

QUOTE(fo33il @ May 23 2007, 06:08 PM)
no wonder looks like the wan which is used for 'filter' the 'tepung'....btw, can it works better than standard lian li's filter?coz, looks like the filter hv smaller hole on them... smile.gif
*
better as in:
  1. Filtering dust (if a filter is good filtering all the dust, not even a little dust in --> for sure the air flow goes through it is low
    )
  2. Higher CFM (if a filter let through high CFM --> then not good filtering dust)

u can't have em both best (CFM High & Good Filtering Dust) ain't i'm rite? icon_rolleyes.gif

but of course, it's up to ur standards on how to judge the filter is good or not

Guys, need some oppinion here..Will it be a problem having 2 powerful exhaus t fan and a single low speed intake fan?

I currently have a Noctua S12-1200 as front intake and 2 silverstone as exhaust (FM121 at rear and FM82 at top).Would it be any trouble?Should i get another intake by getting the LL Side panel fan?
*
depends on ur hardware temp, is ur proc hot? is ur vga hot?

if both of these hardware are cool in temp, don't bother getting additional fan, it doesn't mean if u add more fan in ur case, the temp will drop like crazy...

example if i got 10 intake & 10 exhaust fan doesn't mean my hardware will get the same temp as if i were using watercooling, hell if its works, i think some of the watercooling users will opt this option coz less hassle in managing it, have to monitor from time to time to make sure no leakage & yada yada yada....

although u got 3 exhaust fan (PSU Fan + FM121 + FM82) sucking out all air inside the case, it's not like ur case is "kedap udara", fresh air will eventually get in by those crack or tiny holes, don't worry lor

if ur hardware is hot, it means the hardwares are hungry for fresh air

if ur hardware already in an acceptable temp range don't bother getting an additional fan --> if really wanna add more intake fan, prepare to reschedule ur cleaning time table for the case laugh.gif
