*financial independence* ?
ehhh i tot i'm in the wrong forum... ***START OT*** imo, while it's good to have FI, young ppl have to aim higher... your expenses will keep going up as your commitments increase.. not to mention ur lifestyle changes too.. will probably be like rat race in the end.. don't be too concerned over what is FI, focus on earning more moolah and create more income streams! FI will eventually come without u realizing.. ***END OT*** looks like this is a very fake bear... i may have to go back hibernating.... that William Dudley... really banyak mulut... talk less plz... QUOTE(Bonescythe @ Aug 27 2015, 05:05 PM) Currently, US Housing Price up generally, GDP & Employment are within expectation... so the hot topic is still on rate hike... but i really dun like the idea of having a Fed Governor talking crap once in a while to roil the mkt.. yesterday William Dudley said likely no rate hike.. (yes, a voting member) then today George Esther says yes to rate hike... (i think not a voting member) anyway, it's really matter of time b4 they actually do it.. if the mkt escapes sept. hike, it may still come later in Q4.. just a longer wait... good for traders, though... i think there will still be some volatility b4 FOMC meeting.. This year's Jackson Hole is boring, because JYellen and MDraghi are not there... http://www.cnbc.com/2015/08/24/market-talk...ter-of-qe4.html US analysts really talk about anything they can think of, just to get attention. --- as for our dear KLSE, as long as Oil up and RM up, KLCI should like it... while BNM forex reserve is a concern, there's no need to worry too much about it.. it's still above 90B, about 1x short term debt, there's trade surplus, current acct. surplus... etc.. the earning season is almost over, i'm not following closely, but generally the companies are doing "ok" ? surprisingly, rating agencies S&P, Moodys are suddenly +ve with M'sia... such a weird bunch... looking forward to CIMB's earnings tomorrow... just my personal view... QUOTE China's foreign exchange reserves, the world's largest, shrank by US$93.9 billion (RM406 billion) in August, the biggest monthly fall on record, reflecting the scale of intervention by the central bank to support the yuan after a surprise devaluation last month. any sifu mind to explain ? china devalued yuan and cut interest rates to make their currency cheaper... but at the same time, they're spending forex reserves to support the yuan... isn't that contradicting ? or they just want to take the opportunity to take some profit from high USD ? QUOTE(Bonescythe @ Sep 8 2015, 12:04 PM) devalue currency by means of slashing interest rate multiple times. after slashing for multiple times, repatriate renminbi by selling US bond.. so the sale will result in more reminbi because previously already devalued.. Then the money use to support economy sendiri or spur grwoth |

QUOTE How do we know whether the signs that market is recovering? that's timing the mkt at grand master level... well.. imo, stocks usually bottoms when the worst news is out.. so.. an example would be.. when FED actually hikes rates... that could be the news sends US mkt flying... but what happens after that, needs higher level of mkt timing skill.. for Crude Oil... i'm looking at october, when refiners shut down for maintenance in US.. Oil may bottom and then rebound from there... but these are all short term forecasts (guessing)... i prefer longer term outlook... coz i'm a long term buyer... my whole 2015 is wasted just like that.. thanks to Auntie Yellen's excellent procrastination skill.. let's hope 2016 will provide better opportunities ---- if u're hunting divvy stocks, get those with at least 2-3% premium to FD... meaning at least 6%-7% sustained DY.. that additional 2%-3% will be the safety margin for the additional risks u take.. risks include possible chaos when fed hikes rate.. nobody is really sure what will happen to EM when that happens.. just my opinion... ---- stupid DJ Future jump 250+ This post has been edited by mopster: Sep 25 2015, 05:28 PM |
