BlackBerry’s newest smartphone is now available for Malaysians to pre-order on 11street. The BlackBerry Leap is aimed at young executives who are just about to begin building their careers, and is priced at a point that won’t break their wallets.

Featuring a 5-inch touch display, the BlackBerry Leap follows the more conventional smartphone form factor. Running on BlackBerry 10.3.1, it also features a 2800mAh battery that BlackBerry claims to provide 25 hours of power even on heavy use.

The pre-order begins today and lasts until 19 May 2015; which is the day that the smartphones start shipping. BlackBerry fans can secure their Leap for only RM1089, which includes GST. In addition to this, 11street is throwing in a BlackBerry premium cap and leather phone pouch for the first 100 pre-orders. Confirmed pre-orders will also receive an 11street shopping coupon with RM150.

This pre-order deal is exclusive to 11street, and other vendors will only begin selling the BlackBerry Leap after 20 May. There is no word from local telcos yet about their BlackBerry Leap plans, but it can be expected that Celcom should be announcing something reasonably soon as they are one of the partners behind 11street.

Retailing USD349 in BB official site, RM1089.00 seems reasonable price in our shore. But then again expect the price to drop at least 10-20% after first two months. With the price, current Z3/Z10 users might opt for Z30 instead of Leap.

I personally much looking forward to the new slider and PP2, which should be launch by Q3/4 2015. There's killer in them if you search around.

The phone is nice.
But BB should put NCF and usb OTG as a must to every BB device.
It must be BB standard.

its not quiet per se, don't worry.

BlackBerry user base is still there. This phone, I can see the good sides about it despite people saying stuffs about better buy a Z10 / Z30.

That said, i'm not sure this holds a candle against the Z30, but this one definitely has a LOWER cost and better profit margins for BlackBerry.

Will see how this one gets cannibalized by Z30.

As for me... a BlackBerry is a device with a keyboard... For full touch screen, I won't opt for BlackBerry d... With a keyboard, it is definately unique and looked damn classy... cool2.gif

If u a heavy gamer and rooting etc, i suggest stick with android.

If u just a simple user like using the phone for whatsapp, facebook, wechat, this phone is suitable for u.

If you are already very dependant on your Android apps, I suggest dont try Blackberry.
If you are normal user and only use apps like Facebook, Waze, Whatsapp, Instagram then you can give BB a go nod.gif

I'm not really heavy app users and I don't do rooting... But I do use a lot of social app, financial app like cimb / maybank2u, i use waze to get to places, i use a lot of google stuff like youtube, keep, and i sync all my contact and my calendar with google contact and google calendar, i also uses sunshine to capture all my appointments.. basically I'm just work and no games on my phone.

I only have 1 number and I don't fancy bringing two phones around...

I think all the need you have will go with the Blackberry. Get a Blackberry Classic or Passport if you use a lot for work.
