RWI is currently as bad if not worse than Kopitiam.
We really need someone to take a look at the forum and moderate them.

We have been sending reports but there haven't been any mod activity for some time

This is just 2 examples of what RWI has devolved into....

But there's too many of them though, and will reporting them actually work?

Well, at the rate things are going, RWI is the new kopitiam.... Seriously, if the mods are not interested to moderate RWI, we might as well just swap the names of the forum.

We can always stop going there, its the only thing we can do if people keep abusing the report function, trolls left to roam free and mod banning victims of trolls instead of the trolls. haha.

The situation is Kopitiam is more clear-cut so it's easier to spot and remove posts/ threads. And pretty much all moderators has mod rights over that section compared to RWI which is restricted to a few mods (+ all staffs).

To effectively moderate RWI one has to read the entire argument which can span more than 10 pages. Unfortunately very few of us has the time to do that nowdays.

Like I said, if we cannot moderate RWI, we might as well close it down and let /k (or serious /k) be the the new RWI...The maturity level in RWI is very unbecoming of Malaysians

Perhaps if maturity was important, one should avoid ignorant arguments entirely and focus on the fruitful ones?

I don't know why this even warrants a complain at the first place. See a shitty point? Ignore it and move on with your life.

I support this idea. As i have seen people posting more serious things and actually discussed things in Serious Kopitiam, rather than RWI.

Probably we can just combine RWI and Serious Kopitiam, and move RWI thread under Serious Kopitiam.

Personally, I don't mind ignoring the nonsensical threads, (heck, my ignore list is 30 people long)...) the problem is that the trolls keeps "invading" the legitimate threads and derailing them effectively making the legitimate threads nonsensical as well.

I take it that you did not try to take a look at the threads in RWI...

I did look at RWI. Wasn't any better comparing to 2-3 years ago. If you ask me, it was a wankfest to begin with. Everyone is only there to have the "last word". These days I only look at RWI because I'm lazy, i.e. needing some updates on current issues.

I've grown up beyond silly internet arguments. This is why I mentioned, if maturity is important, make your point, ignore silliness, and move on with your life.

I think this suggestion just might work but then you'd need to be able to differentiate between discussions versus those posts seeking help and advice.

Well, I agree that it has always been a wankfest, but compared to the standard of 5 to 10 years ago it has degenerated considerably. Some posters resort to and get away with ad hominem attacks or basically derail the entire topic at length without admin intervention.

probably for those poster which intend to ask for help or advice can put tag "WTA" or "Help" at front of their title, like wts/wtt/wtb thread?

It'll be merely transferring the problem from one place to another. Similar solution is to open RWI for moderation for all mods, but will lead to inconsistencies in terms of actions taken on posts/ threads/ users.

Nothing's changed. Ever since there were opinions, there will always be horribly made ones.

> Ad hominem attacks

This is just begging for it. It's the easiest thing to ignore and move on. Ad hominem only works because the supposed "victim" got their butts all tingly.

Again, I really don't get why this is a problem at the first place. The only reason why this warrants a complain is because you want the "last word". How is that relatively more mature than some idiot calling you an idiot?
