Drivers in fatal 2015 DUKE crash jailed three years, fined RM10,000 each

KUALA LUMPUR: Two motorists involved in an accident which killed a couple and their six-month-old daughter along the DUKE Highway in 2015 have been found guilty and sentenced to three years' jail.

Magistrate Zilfinaz Abbas handed down the sentence on restaurant supervisor Siti Noor Aini Mohd Said, 39, and Mohammad Fizal Reza Jamauddin, 34, after finding that the defence had failed to raise reasonable doubt in the case.

The accused were also fined RM10,000 each.

They also lost their eligibility to hold driving licences for five years.



The court, however, allowed a stay of the sentence pending appeal at the High Court, and increased the bail amount from RM9,000 to RM14,000 each.

It also ordered for the duo to report to the nearest police station once a month pending disposal of the case.

Mohammad Fizal Reza and Siti Noor Aini had pleaded not guilty to causing the crash on May 2, 2015 which resulted in the deaths of Fairuz Nizam Husain, 35, his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 27, and their six-month old baby Nur Firuza Annisa. - Bernama

This case is very interesting. Apart from the reckless driving, we can see how greedy some people are when it comes to money. The in law of the death family still fighting for the right to take care of the survive kids.
