QUOTE(T231H @ May 27 2015, 05:03 PM) the fund fact sheets "most probably" has the country allocation chart showing the % allocated for each countries.... in case of single country focused fund...it will not show the % per each country. Plot the % down onto an excel file.... then see where is the countries and % allocated for each fund...add them all up to see the total of % and countries allocated for your portfolio. Separate them into Equity and Bond funds.... do you like what you see?..... (it seems that your portfolio are mostly focused in M'sia...) (If M'sia were to kena hit (like rating downgrade) ALL in your portfolio also kena....) there is NOT right or wrong..just your individual preference.... i didn't go into details For me, i look for funds that consistently give > 7% every year (not average over 5 years or so, but every year positive) so i pull the data from FSM, recalculate the numbers to give me what i need and select funds based on that criteria |

QUOTE(yklooi @ May 27 2015, 05:27 PM) based on 5 yrs...that time US is having QE...every where also make monies... What's QE ?now with QE stopped, interest rate will be rising, M'sia Oil price dropped, RM currencies dropped.. just a thought... but when i check, i check performance for each year (year 1, 2, 3, 4, 5). Not last 5 years average unless you say the QE issue only happens last few months |

QUOTE(Pink Spider @ May 27 2015, 05:34 PM) i know thatbut i check return for each year, not average last 5 years. if every single year it is positive, the chances are higher of course i am simplifying things but i don't have the knowledge or time to do market survey i want a simple investment method (that's why i choose UT |

QUOTE(dirtinacan @ May 27 2015, 05:59 PM) Actually.. you should've asked here first. haha. okWe would all give opinion freely one. 1. set your risk appetite 2. Plan your portfolio (good refence is FSm's portfolio) 3. Post here to know other ppls opinions 4. Look at xuzen's balls Due to 1mdb issue and oil price. Low growth expected in Malaysia. We are looking at emerging markets/asia ex japan now. But hey. Up to you. You bit the bullet. Now wait and pray for the best. will take note so which fund is poised to have big return in the near future? |

QUOTE(kimyee73 @ May 28 2015, 08:27 AM) Good choice actually if you like mostly local funds but too many overlap. My choice would be below thanks for the tipsKAF Vision Fund - Malaysia small cap - large cap dynamic allocation Eastspring Investment Small-Cap Fund - Malaysia small cap Kenanga Growth Fund - Malaysia large cap CIMB-Principal Global Titans Fund - Developed countries large cap CIMB-Principal Asia Pacific Dynamic Income Fund - Asia xJap large cap Affin Hwang Select Asia (Ex Japan) Quantum Fund - Asia xJap small cap RHB-OSK Islamic Bond Fund - Malaysia RHB-OSK Emerging Market Bond Fund - EM RHB-OSK Asian Total Return Fund - Asia xJap i actually see yearly return for past 5 years (not average past 5 years). didn't really see where they invest. so that's why overlap. i also add a few bond fund to mix the risk a bit what's your suggestion for strategy? choose only the best fund for its category?
