Nope, you have to read the Fund Fact Sheet to know exactly.

Is there any particular meaning to "Total Return" portion of the fund name ?

Some fairly predictable nature of fund name, if you see the following words in the fund name:

I) "Income" it denotes regular periodical distribution (once a year or twice a year)

II) "Tactica/Balance/Dynamic" it denotes balance or mixed asset fund where the FM has the mandate to invest in both equities and bond

III) "Growth" denotes a high equity exposure fund.

IV) "Total Return" usually indicate the fund has a targeted rate of return.

Ringgit falls to 3.7 against US$

PETALING JAYA: The deepening sell-off in the global bond market has resulted in the depreciation of the ringgit, along with other Asian currencies, as investors reassess their positions in emerging markets.

The ringgit fell 0.36% to 3.6983 against the US dollar at 5pm yesterday, ending up as the fourth-worst performer of the day in the region. The South Korean won led regional losses after falling 0.82%. This was followed by the Taiwanese dollar (-0.50%) and Indonesian rupiah (-0.38%).

Now my fund value in the book increases against depreciating stock index, I am not sure if it is due to the value indeed increases or due to conversion. sweat.gif

Yes, me. Topping up tomorrow. All my China linked funds are down. Profit for Ponzi 2 currently down to 3.95%.
*
I wonder if it is possible to time the buy and sell, considerating that typically the index will be up one day and down the next day and so on.

If yesterday was down, today presumably will up.

And if you top up tomorrow, it will be a down day and T+2 after that will be down also. Meaning you will likely buy at lower price of the moving average ? tongue.gif blink.gif sweat.gif

The stocks that your fund held MAY not be index linked stocks....

I find many funds track the moving pattern of index, no doubt the absolute figures will differ. tongue.gif

hmm.gif so not much relevancy to the index up/down cycles
*
I am not using the absolute figure. Referring to the index is just for convenience.

I could rephrase the whole thing with respect to the (equity based) fund we invested, eg the fund value will be one day up, the next day down, different absolute amount ...... If the pattern holds most of the time, then we could kind of timing the buy/selling isn't it ?

I should say it will not work all the time ... as it's not always true that the fund will be one day up and the next day down. sweat.gif

When u read newspapers and business news websites and they all talk about crash, people losing their life savings in stock market, bubble pop, traders getting margin calls, hedge funds folding up etc, that is the time to buy brows.gif

Now? People are still trading speculative stocks... whistling.gif

It's more like making investment into 2 funds. Since they are funds, the returns will be subjected to the risks in it.

I don't see any value of the claim which says "target returns 8.85% ".

Emerging Asia ratings under pressure

PETALING JAYA: Emerging Asian sovereign credit ratings are coming under increasing pressure, with Malaysia and Mongolia on negative outlook for their credit ratings, says Fitch Ratings.

The rating agency said in a June 22 report titled “Asia Pacific Sovereign Overview 2Q15” that none of the 10 emerging Asian economies whose sovereign ratings it covered has a positive outlook.

Is it saying that Malaysia will likely move down from A- to something lower in the upcoming rating ?

I know we talked about how we should let the fund manager does his job and not overtrading funds.
But how much is too much?

Aberdeen World been underperforming compared to GTF and even GEYF, and my ratio for the 3 funds are 3:2:2
Should I switch camp and move some allocation from Aberdeen to GTF? Yes, I know, I've way too many funds  sweat.gif
*
Moving out of under performing fund to enter into performing fund will effectively be the same as sell low buy high ......
