China's stock exchanges to lower transaction fees as markets slump

HONG KONG (July 1): China's two major stock exchanges plan to lower securities transaction fees by 30 percent from August, as part of the government's attempt to avert a crash in the world's most volatile stock market.

The Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges will lower the transaction fees to 0.00487 percent from 0.00696 percent of transaction volume for A-share trading, the bourses said in separate statements on Wednesday.

In addition, the China Securities Depository and Clearing Company also said in a statement it would cut transfer fees to 0.002 percent of transaction volume from 0.03 percent and 0.00255 percent for the Shanghai and Shenzhen exchanges respectively.

The cuts will take effect on Aug. 1, the exchanges and clearing company said.

Stocks close higher on Greece hopes, US data

U.S. stocks closed higher on Wednesday as investors eyed better-than-expected data and remained optimistic on resolution between Greece and its creditors. ( Tweet This )

"Investors should have higher conviction we are back to trend (on economic growth)," said David Lefkowitz, Senior Equity Strategist at UBS. "I think it's mostly about Greece (and) a lot of volatility around what's happening in Europe."

Stocks advanced despite Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras' statements the country will go ahead with the referendum on Sunday and that it is not a determinant of whether or not Greece remains in the euro zone, Reuters reported.

The Dow Jones industrial average closed about 140 points higher, off a more than 170-point rise in the open. The Nasdaq Composite also briefly jumped 1 percent as Apple (AAPL) advanced and biotechs gained.

try do the geo chart...

the huge bias toward Asia ex JAV might surprise and/or scare u brows.gif

btw, in spite of recent market weakness, my IRR still at 6.5%, 1-year return at 10%+

RHB-OSK EM Bond and Asian Total Return helped cushion the equities weakness thumbup.gif

Kenanga Asia Pacific Total Return Fund: 44.21%
Affin Hwang Select Asia (Ex Japan) Opportunity Fund: 49.2%

i like aladdin fund. might not be providing return more than other funds, but giving me less volatility and the fact that i did check their holdings from the annual/semi-annual report... seems like not the kind of fund that changes holdings all the time.

holding on to good companies around the world

So what's your strategy next? Buy or top up more?

So, what is the key take away message here?

a) Keep your standard-deviation low (aka risk or volatility).
b) Maintain a high ROI. Seek the best Sharpe ratio. Use awesome algorithm tool such as Algozen™ to seek the best Sharpe ratio portfolio.
c) Have a realistic expectation.
d) Be Geeky!

Xuzen

p/s This lessons is not very important to lay-investors but I am writing it here anyhow because I am a Geek! and I am tired of talking the same stuff all the time.
*
For (b), too bad that Algozen™ is not open to the public. LOL

My portfolio showed 2 negatives:

Am Commodities Eq -7.57%
Am Precious metal -6.1%

Fed up i top up 5k each for them today.
Question is if they go further south, should i top up more?
Thanks for anyone care to comment.
*
Both of them are commodity funds. At current market sentiment, they won't be bullish for long way to go.
