If you buy at discounted price, you may save RM10.
Buy if your target is to make RM1,000 profit, what is the significance of RM10?

Hello, I am a new investor in Fundsupermart.

I would like to find how whether there is any option given to the investor in terms of dividend payout instruction.

Are all dividend payout automatically reinvested in units? Or we can have the option to receive the dividend payout in cash?

Thanks in advance for your kind response to my query.
*
Under FSM, all DISTRIBUTIONS are reinvested, no cash option.

If u want the CASH FLOW, u can manually sell off the extra units received after it is credited to your account.

Learn more about distributions in Post #1, read everything there.

Bro, unit trust is a long term investment. You need a time period of  3 years or more to see results. When your funds are in the red, this means it is selling at a "discount". Thus it is time to top up by the fund using DCA or Value Averaging. Top up at least the amount you "lost" or x2 the amount you lost.

Maybe we should make a policy here - those who invested less than 2 years or so (esp those who went in lump sum) and make noise about losses are not to be entertained tongue.gif

Sad to say the same story applies for EPF members in Malaysia who invested in unit trusts using their hard earned EPF money. Please google the info and you will see what I mean. Where did we go wrong?
*
Unit trusts are not a 100% buy-and-forget investment tool. Many who got into losses are due to:
(1) Buy-and-TOTALLY-forget, i.e. no monitoring and review and rebalancing
(2) Buy into the "hot" funds and expect the hot streak to continue, only to end up buying at peak
(3) Go heavy into speculative funds like small cap stocks with no large cap/dividend-focused/bond funds to balance the risk

Those who did their homework and do it right, quite unlikely to go worse than EPF dividend returns. At the very least should somewhat match EPF dividend returns (after deducting commission and fees).

no sure how FSM works but...

really? even if the deed or prospectus clearly say one can reinvest if election is available?
*
With FSM, u are investing as a Nominee, u don't/cannot deal directly with the Fund Manager, u deal with the Fund Manager thru FSM.

E.g. u invest in Kenanga Growth Fund thru FSM.

U go to Kenanga office, they don't know who the hell u are. All your investments are parked under iFAST Nominees Sdn Bhd.

Oh I see... you come from nominee angle.

So if there is a reinvestment of units (since no cash option is allowed), will my reinvestments be subject to sales charge?
*
No.
