Hello guys,I just installed a new pioneer X5750BT head unit for about 2k including installation at my local shop. I plan to upgrade my speakers as well as adding a subwoofer smile.gif Any recommendation? smile.gif

My local shop recommend me to install two 6" component speaker on front doors and a 12" custom subwoofer behind the boot then adding two pieces of amp. Anyone got better suggestion?

I do hope that I could get a better quality of audio instead of just booming or blasting the subwoofer smile.gif Thanks smile.gif

Thanks in advanced smile.gif

Mine is 2010 Myvi, but similar situation.
HU is Kenwood 2Din model.
Speakers front and rear are Alpine 6" & 4", straight swap for OEM type (Massive difference)
Kenwood KSC-W11 underseat subwoofer installed under driver seat.
Notes:
1)Note that battery is only 40AH standard. Anymore sub+poweramp is going will take a toll on battery and alternator. I prefer to retain standard battery. Bigger batt is getting expensive everytime to change. I have measured the current demand of power amps. At idle its around 1.8amps..but when big bass kicks in, it can be up to 10-20amps..up to HALF the capacity of your battery and tax your alternator. If you have a say a Proton Persona battery with 100AH and big fat boot space..then different story. Add all you want.
2) I thought it over about all those powerful 12" sub + amp in the boot. Take up space for sure because I travel often. I don't need earth shattering bass within the car.
3) Underseat sub was the best solution to meet my requirement and not tax the battery anymore than it should. The sub is just enough to fill the bass void and compliment existing speakers for a full bodied sound at comfortable volume. Thats all thats needed for me. I listen to hifi at home and maintain similar sound quality without going overboard at the car.
4) I'd rather spend extra cash on better TYRES..not audio. Ride comfort and less tyre noise also contribute to better audio. I'm just being practical and prudent without overkill for Myvi. I treasure my precious ears too. blush.gif

Now that you mentioned it, I have to look for custom battery pod that carries at least 60AH

I think 60Amp can fit, but you may have to change the battery tray which fit only 40AH dimension. Look for aftermarket type I guess.
Just ensure your battery doesn't exceed the height of the OEM battery, wider or deeper a bit is ok.

I think I saw a picture of a myvi back then custom pod an Optima Yellow Top, definitely is larger than myvi's size but it looked secured inside the engine bay. Th problem is that battery cost a bomb already. OK thanks for the info bro

Just my opinion and story. I simply think the Myvi is not an ideal car to max out one's ICE unless for 2-3 reasons. 1) Boot space not important. 2) Door and dash speaker location is not ideal. 3) Upgrade 60ah battery.
To get to near ideal and higher satisfaction, more money must be spent on damping door internals for new 6" speakers and 4" speakers in dash. Dashboard location is like void and open. Like hanging a speaker on plywood and suspended in the open. There should be some form of speaker enclosure but unfortunately there's none. I've not included new battery cost in case for extra power amp or sub.
Then for 2 din, you must spend another amount to buy a suitable 2din fascia. Installation costs for all above also cost money unless DIY. For me I DIY. I specially join and solder HU wiring harness plug to OEM Toyota Female socket to plug into Myvi ICE harness. That plug isn't free, it cost anything up to RM45 and thats without installation. I confirm the same socket fit Perodua Axia easily. Perodua all use Toyota harness plug. If you're not familiar with auto wiring, PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT DIY. This require fair bit of electrical or electronics knowledge. The ignorant may burn something if wired up wrongly.

For me 6" speakers in the door is just sufficient, lucky it wasn't 5". If without proper damping treatment with Dynamat or similar, the whole door rattle when bass kicks in. Its horrible.
Just for comparison, my son asked me to fix/swap his OEM Persona Blaupunkt player for a new RM400 Kenwood player with BT & USB. On its own the sound was far more dynamic and satisfying compared to stock Myvi. The difference was massive. Of course the Persona had OEM 6" speakers at the rear boot upper tray as standard. My son told me..really no need for extra amps and subwoofer. Its quite enough for more than decent ICE satisfaction. I gave him a new pair of JBL GTO 6" speakers too, which I will fix for him next week. That should complete his ICE. Altogether total cost for the HU and speakers about worth RM700. For me I think I spent far more than that including rear door damping. Haven't done the front..still ok.

I just install a new Kenwood 4 channel KAC-9405 (2010 model), old and discontinued model but worth due to throw out price from Brothers. 60W RMS per channel. I checked out its internals, circuitry and implemented transistors, its DAMN GOOD for the price!
Takes the SQ to a whole new level..Happy camper here.

Just change your OEM head unit ...you will feel different sound quality ..so on..change your myvi speaker as well .. RM1000 is enough for such item

Yes, replace all stock speakers and HU, it'll offer a huge improvement, but sadly not enough bass, an underseat subwoofer would fill the void easily. Under seat subwoofer will cost about 600 extra, but well worth it.
