Hi peeps, newbie here on mibox 4.
I am planning to get this to play all my movies via USB as currently movie subs are not playable on my sharp tv after software update to version 7.0. 

Anything else this box can do? (Stream movies, watch live sports via iptv and etc)

Same bro, this mibox is getting old, cant handle 4k@60hz. I hope they release more powerful box soon or I'll have to spend on nvidia shield.
At 4k@60hz HDR on, always out of sync audio + random reboot (overheat?) and also laggy inside out. 1080P and below work fine without reboot or audio problem.
maybe I'm over exaggerating but it is not smooth for sure

Is it China brand, made in Thailand?

Astro is now using this brand as the decoder

Lousy as hell, problem in the first week

Keep showing hdmi cable error, after change cable will have same error after a few days

i am talking about the stb brand MiTV, not the xiaomi MiTV

mine got freeze too when starting to watch the first video, have to backout using the remote.

look like the 6.0.1 have some issue with youtube, they fix it on several update while still on Android 6. i think if u guys update now will directly get Oreo.
im on Oreo and dont face any issue.

Apps i currently have , installed myself
1. Vudu
2. Movies Anywhere
3. NBC
4. AMC
5. Fandango Now (failed to play UHD) only HD
6. etc...

sometimes its not smart enough.
some apps not optimise cooding very well and start to hang.
then only way to solve this is just to kill the apps and start it again.

even windows, linux os still have this problem.

Yes this is the mi box s. Same internals. Only different remote and runs on android 8.1 vs 8.0 on the earlier version.

My only concern is if its really ori global version. Supposedly Mi Box global version is MDZ-16-AB and Mi Box S is MDZ-22-AB.

Is it that bad??

Coming from minix-u9h, mibox s is a very capable & affordable box if your usage is only for streaming. e.g. netflix, iflix, youtube, iptv, etc. Expressvpn works fine too.

Should've bought this box earlier.

Second to this as well.  Only thing I don't understand in some similar LYN forums complains about KODI not working and etc...I don't find any issues at all even 4K movies runs pretty good with my 100MB subscription.
