It seems that this issue is caused by an update to Android TV Home.
So another workaround to fix this issue is by downgrading the Android TV Home version from v3.0.10 to v2.3.1 but before that disable the auto-update on Google Play Store first.

1. There are few browser available on Android TV play store.
Personally will recommend JioPagesTV or TV-Bro(need sideload) which both have built-in adblocker & ability to download files. For JioPagesTV there is one downside which is the recommendation/suggestions are more focus to Indian region but it is still usable to access preferred website & it support EME(widevine).
2. Almost all Google certified Android TV devices for consumer can install/sideload apps but not all sideload app will work or will have compatibility issue.
For sideload app, it will not appear under the main apps UI but there are few solution for this issue. One of the solution is by using sideload app launcher which is available on the Playstore & there are more similiar apps but u can try which is best for you.
3. Not recommended, it is for China region & it runs MIUI OS. Not suitable for global user.
Only buy Google certified android tv especially if u plan to use it with legal streaming service.
4. Get global version.
5. Google Certified box will have built-in chromecast which can cast from supported video player on your phone/browser to it & u can use your phone without disturbing the video playing on the box.
Even better if u know how to get direct link of the source video & cast it directly.
The picture quality will depends on the video resolution & bitrate. Higher is better.
6. I'm not sure about this but i think there are few legal apps with korean content. One of it is Netflix with both english & korean content available.

Since you mention Apple TV+, then there is only one option available for you & that is Chromecast with Google TV which is made by Google.
At the moment, only this Google streaming device support Apple TV+.
So just get this device if you really need Apple TV+ & the OS is basically new/future version of Android TV.
The device is not officially available in Malaysia but you can get the import unit from local seller at shopee/lazada. The price should be around RM280..

7. Need to subscribe to reliable VPN service & install/run the VPN app on the device. Connect to preferred region server & launch netflix app. It will show content from the choosen region.

I believe the issue is related to your TV OS or more specifically it may be caused by lack of RAM for cache/buffer.

Usually Smart TV web browser are not optimized for video streaming & are outdated.

Best solution is to get external streaming device as per my previous reply.

Need to plug-in to the Mibox.
The air mouse is suitable for sideload app(mobile) that does not support remote(D-PAD) navigation.
Voice command only work for some supported features & apps.

This should not happen..
Need to check the display settings on the box.
Also check at TV's hdmi setting if the HDMI is set to enhanced(deep color or Pure Direct) mode.
Not sure what is the feature name on your Panasonic TV for the enhanced HDMI mode.

Since your is 4k with HDR, those settings should be there..

That reddit post is from 3years back & since then the box has been updated many times so i don't think it's still valid. Futhermore, that post is refering to older mibox 3 & sony tv.

Do note that the new Chromecast do not have extra usb port & if u plan to use it with other usb accessories(air mouse/pendrive) then u need to get compatible USB-C hub with PD passthrough which will cost around RM90+..😅

Does this issue happen on the mibox home screen?
Is this issue only happen when playing video on browser? Is it JiopagesTV?

Does this issue also happen when playing video on Youtube app?
If it does not, can you try playing youtube video on the broswer..

Btw, under the mibox display setting disable SDR to HDR option if it is enabled.

Emm..good luck with your return request, usually local seller won't accept any opened sealed return..
If it didn't, u can try reselling with reduced price..

Fyi, there is another new box (Mecool KM2) with newer specs than mibox s that has usb ports but no Apple TV+ support. Soon or later sure local seller will start selling it.

Try playing around with color space settings under the same mibox's display setting.

2. Ya, both are Android TV browser. The JiopagesTV app should be able to download via Playstore while TV-Bro is not available on Android TV playstore & need to be sideload. I'll recommend JiopagesTV, it's really suitable for Android TV & make sure to enable the adblock.

3. For reliability it's hard say & it's depend on many factors. Those unbranded box usually are built by companies that only focus on profit & does not care about quality or after sales service/support. Personally, those box are suitable for people that like to tinker, coding & etc.

Google certified tv box are only built by Google approved OEM & they need to passed certain QA/QC requirements set by Google to receive the certification.
For Mecool KM2, the OEM is the same company that built Unifi Plus Box for TM which is Skyworth Digital.
Even though Mecool has their own OEM & Google certificate, for this box(KM2) they had to source it from Skyworth due to Netflix certification.
I have seen few reviews on this box & it's been positive so far.

That Popcorn is a P2P(torrent) streaming app & require high resources to work. Need to configure the settings to prevent seeding at some point or best to avoid using it if not familiar. There few other alternative to this apps.
I think in long term or non-stop use(seeding), it can affect your device lifespan.

4. I've checked the website & i see that the content are mostly in 1080p(AVC) but the bitrate are low @ 1188kbps. This can cause the video to look blurry & pixelated on big screen especially on 55" TV & afaik, can't do anything to improve it. 😅

Actually, not necessary to use browser on mibox to watch from that website. U can just cast the video from your phone(android).
If your phone browser not showing the cast icon or failed to cast, u can use app like Web Video Cast to cast directly from the phone.

5. The new Chromecast with Google TV can sideload app like normal Android TV box. There are few ways to sideload app that does not require the use of pendrive like via wifi transfer or directly sideload via ADB.
One of the downside as per mentioned in my previous replies is that it require compatible USB-C Hub w/ PD passthrough to connect usb drive/peripheral & in some cases, it will also require high wattage power supply to power the usb hub.

The new Chromecast must be powered directly from power point with the supplied power adapter or with 3rd party multiple usb power supply that can output at least 5V/1.5A on single usb port.
It can't be powered with TV usb port due to low power output.

There is no perfect box, each box has its own pros & cons so it depends on user requirements to find best suitable box.

If you plan to keep it then my advise is whenever there is firmware update, do wait for few days/week & survey whether that the new update has introduce any new issue/bug that might affect your usage.😁

2. As long Xiaomi don't screw up by releasing half baked update, u should be fine.
Fyi, the SoC inside Mibox was released in 2016 & has reach its limits so do not expect more from it.

3. That Puffin TV is actually combination of browser+VPN where everything is connected to their cloud server located at US. Eventually, it will reduced your internet speed & could not access some geo-blocked website.
Anyway, since u already found the JiopagesTV browser so have with it..

4. Emm.. I think you haven't really experience the real chromecast feature that is built-in the Mibox. It is not like your previous experience casting directly to your TV which is called screen mirroring & require your phone screen to be always ON during the entire casting process.

With Chromecast u wont be needing to cast your entire phone screen but only the video itself & once u casted the video, it will automatically goes to full screen on Mibox/TV. The video will be playing only on your TV not phone.
U won't even need to turn ON your phone screen or you can continue using the phone without disturbing the video playing on the Mibox.

5. For official/legal app, everything is available on the Playstore. 😁

1. Not sure which version of OS your mibox is currently using but if everything is working fine then do not update because from other user feedback the latest update did introduce few bugs like wifi issue, usb disconnect & etc..

2. Iinm, the TV you r using was released in 2018 which then Panasonic was still using their own OS called My Home Screen 3.0 that only support limited & popular apps. Later in 2020 they started using Android TV OS for their premium model.
There are other brands that started using Android TV OS way before Panasonic did like Sony, Sharp & Philips..

3. To understand this u need to know the history of Chromecast(CC).

It is a cast feature which was developed by Google & was introduced in form of device called Chromecast in 2013. Then later in 2015, the same cast feature was integrated into Android TV OS including other devices & was named as Chromecast Built-In.
Even after that Google were still selling & released few new generation of CC with same functionality as the 1st generation.

Last year Google released the new version of CC named Chromecast w/ Google TV(CCwGTV) but this time it is no longer similar to previous generation CC because now the new CC comes with Google TV OS which is new version of Android TV but with new UI & features. It is actually Google TV OS with Chromecast built-in..confused right?😅
This is the problem with Google's brand naming scheme..it never makes sense..😁
Even the Google TV name has it's own confusing story..

So in short all certified Android TV/Google TV device will have this Chromecast feature.

4. It is small but there are quite a number of differences between Mibox S & the new CCwGTV in terms of software, features, specifications & etc..
The hardware/SoC in the CCwGTV is two generation newer to what Mibox S has.
Personally, spending extra RM80 is worth it even if you only going to use it for streaming purpose without any additional accessories.

Actually Mibox S was released in 2018 with 2016's hardware specs. It is basically repackaged of 2016 version of Mibox 3 with updated radio chip.
For the video buffering issue it may or may not related to the box itself but it can also cause by the source server or local internet connection.

2. There are few ways to sideload apps & it just require your phone(android) to do it or directly download the apk to the box. No emailing necessary.
For this can refer YouTube, there are a lot of instructions video available on how to do it.

Navigation will be an issue for apps without remote mapping which it is must to have mouse.
There are Bluetooth air mouse remote available or there is a way to use the box remote as D-PAD mouse but the method is still buggy.

While for typing, u can use Android TV remote app available on mobile playstore.

Apple TV+ app is now available now for Android TV including Mibox S

That is normal. There are even some OEM that source hardware from other OEM/ODM to supply to their clients.

Mecool is just a brand not manufacturer, they can source box from other OEMs & sell it under their own brand which what they did with the KM2 model due to Netflix certification & the certificate will remain because they did not 'steal' or 'hacked' it but they got it through legal deal.

Mibox S & Mecool KM2 do not have similar specs.
KM2 has one generation newer SoC, more I/O ports & better remote.
In terms of audio it can passthrough Atmos(lossy) even for Netflix thanks to Dolby MS12 decoder.

Fyi, specification doesn't mean it is only RAM & Storage. Don't just look at those numbers, there's more to that.
Did you even look at the numbers of I/O ports compare to Mibox S?
Even in the SoC, it has changes that increase performance & reduce power consumption.

Google TV is basically Android TV with new UI that more focus on content which the current Android TV will receive the similar version of it once it is roll out to Asia region.
Even the full version of the new UI will be released to all at some point in future.

Buyers are basically paying for hardware/features upgrade unlike Xiaomi keep releasing each version of new Mibox with the same hardware(except Wifi/BLE) since 2016 & still charging the same price.
Furthermore, KM2 doesn't required to purchase additional accessories for Ethernet port.

True, there are pros & cons but in this case for KM2 there is only one downside & that is it can't do AFR on local playback app(ex: Kodi) due to some restrictions. While in term of pros, KM2 is way ahead..

I agree for current users it is not necessary to upgrade if the Mibox still fit their requirements but for new user or user who planning to replace their spoilt box isn't it is better to buy newer box like KM2 instead of buying Mibox S..

If your usage involve legal and online/local streaming via network only then CCwGTV is sufficient but if also need to use for local playback via USB then Mecool KM2 is a good choice.
CCwGTV can do local playback via USB but you will need to buy additional accessories like USB-C Hub with PD passthrough & also might need to buy high wattage PSU if the stock PSU can't supply enough power for the USB hub to function.
CCwGTV only support Fat32 file system & there is workaround for NTFS but it's not stable..
Do note both can't do AFR for local playback app..

Btw, try JioPagesTV browser alternative to Puffin TV..

New Xiaomi 4K Stick with S905Y4 & AV1 support and comes with HDMI extender.
Based on test report, looks like it will use Android TV UI instead of Google TV UI.

Not sure where you got the price. As per my observation, the price is between rm235-rm250 for Mecool KM2 local stock on Lazada/Shopee and if you have collected lazada bonus then you can get at least RM16 discount.

The difference between Mibox S vs Mecool KM2 is that the latter has one generation newer SoC, some additional ports with better remote and Atmos.

If your usage is only for online streaming and does not need USB or other additional ports then there are other cheap option:
1. Onn 4K > S90Y2, security updates, Google reference remote ~ RM180
2. TiVo 4K > S905Y2, Dolby Atmos & Vision, USB-C port, security updates ~RM200

There is another option but unfortunately local sellers mark up the price quite high but if you know how to import via forwarder then you can get it cheaper. Iirc, it used to be around RM250-RM270.

Note that all this device only comes with 8GB storage and 2GB storage but can be expand with external storage via Y-OTG cable or powered USB hub.

The Astro Go app doesn't work on Android/Google TV. You'll need to look for modded version of the app.

Both TV and box board are designed differently but manufacturer can add software support to control the port. My TV(linux) USB port used to power on in standby mode but after few updates they disable it.

Try to look up for software provided by HDD manufacturer(if available) to configure the board which include spin down feature.
IMO, if spinning down/up in short period is basically useless.


There is one box that has the ability to shutdown USB port after 20 minutes but you might not be interested in it..😁
