BurgerRI

i am sorta near that value too

getting instability near 3.6 gz(240*15)(~960 QDR)

plus when i over clock, i have to jump a few value
(not increasing continously with every cycle)
since increasing to some fsb, my ram will have to run @ speed of ~548

though i use expert,
the ram freq also seems to increase a lil
(a cycle of 522mhz to 548mhz,)

maybe i have to chane the ram

eh? only 225mhz ar?
maybe because of your psu.
btw, what psu do u use now?
*
reagarding psu

mine seems to have crappy oc
then i found out that i need to connect the 4 pins from the 20+4 pins

then i bengang dee
whack all connector

the 4 pins in the 20+4 pins
the 4 pins above the gc slot
the molex for sli power

all I whack it on

after that i can get a stable-leer OC

finally got bored over the week-end
and plus my fans got really dusty, with dust

literally dis-assemble every thing and got to cleaning...

and while i am at it....
Hm.. brows.gif hmm.gif

why not lap the heat-sink-fan, My Giga-G-Power Pro

and when i am finished I thought.... hmm.gif

since waiting for my HSF fins to dry...
why not lap the IHS of my Pentium D 930..

the result...

and what shocking.gif i get fro the IHS lapping,
the IHS is a copper coated with a layer (of nickel I presume)
( the nickel it seem to be useful here, it really protect the copper base material, I have seen small scratches on the IHS caused by the screw holes of the HSF)

plus when i lap both of it
I found out it is concave shape, the HSF as well as IHS
which it is sunk in the middle a bit

for now i let i be
and let it run for a few day b4 i try OC again,
then maybe find a flat glass block and re-lapp it again.... icon_rolleyes.gif

edit: p/s . oh ya just saw the pic in real size, and the second picture, there seems to be a scratch-like black line, well.. it is the reflection of my house 12" tall abestos ceiling.

on related news,

there will be a spat of upgrading on my machine

2gig ddr667 (1gig X 2 ram kit) to replace 1gig(single) samsung ddr533 = ~400(value ram)

or

add another xfx7600GT = ~599
plus a zalman Vf700 Al-Cu = ~110

buy "below sea-line" HDD = ~200 (must buy)

hmm...
which one is important, any suggestions?
Is the ram important (cause i fell the ram is limiting the OC-ing)
or a SLI setup...

Okay....

now here is the compilations of the situation
observed throughout the use of my system stated below....

1) the temperature is still @ a low point ~18 @nite and ~24 @day, overclocking does increase the temperature. Speedfan show the thermistor temp is ~24 while changing to diode sensor is ~75 degree.

2) the NB temperature (checked using laser thermometer) is ~80 using stock and ~50 using Zalmans. the temperature beside the chip (the pcb with electronical parts have a temp of ~55 degree.

3) cpuz 1.38 shows that my proc is a c1 stepping of PD930. The voltage when set @ normal(in the bios shows it is running @ 1.275v) is 1.18v-1.20v!!!! Changing the voltage in bios to 1.375v will changed the cpuz value to 1.29v~1.32v. changing back to normal in bios doesnt change the cpuz value.
Speedfan along with some utilities will shows that the 1st core voltage is 1.25(or as according to bios settings) while core 2 will always maintain @ 1.78v!!!!

4) pressing Ctrl+F1 in bios mainpage will show extra settings. Enabling Top Performance will make my graphic card frequancy to be increase from 540/1400 to 620/1700 although i didn't OC it. Pressing the default button doesnt change any thing.

5)i was able to OC from 3.0 to 3.6, but that was on a 1.20v (as according to cpuz). Searching in the net says PD930 will show a 1.35 vcore on a B2 steppings (this is without the EIST function). If cpuz is realiable, i will try to upp the vcore till 1.35 (most prolly in bios will be ~1.45) and try to achive the mythical 4.0 ghz

edit:typo

some one told me
to enable the high performance(in bios main page, press ctrl + F1)
and the mem voltage is increased

though i can get a better OC,
but my GC MHz gone crazy

my default 570/725 will become ~600/800 automatically,
dunno why?.....

aiya
my bro has been torrenting
so no time to test

though increasing the nb-volt does make it better to OC

now here is the wierd thing...

at bios i would have increase the vcore to ~1.515v(mobo maxed out @ 1.615v)
to get the 1.425v @ idle shown by cpu-z
when at load the voltage will drop of ~0.05v

another is the default voltage
when my mobo bios is reset (by taking out the batt)
the vcore is set 1.245 at the bios
but cpu-z 1.38 shows 1.200 max

plus my temp at load now is ~48
and idle @ ~30

will i push it to the MAX!!!
stay tune for

usually i dont use that func...

wait...

I NEVER use that function at all
i will either run at stock (with EIST) or oc it manually

the best so far from this board..

fsb 234mhz, x quad pump = 936 mhz
proc speed = 234 x 15 = 3510 mhz
ram speed = 800 mhz ddr
timing = 5-5-5-15-20 (havent really push far yet)
gc ocing = 665/1740

right now i got like 4-5 fans connected as well as miscelanious stuf
and it feels like bogging down the PSU
if got time will as a secondary PSU to power up the fans

have to admit
this mobo is not the cream of the crop even during its time
cause gigabyte came out with the better version like pro, quad, royal

so this GA-8N SLi ver1.1 is the bottom feeder of the group
(i noe sad to say , but it is the truth)

but as for you problem
i have yet to encounter any of them

the culprit might as well be ur power supply

have you tried other PSUs?

not sure what u mean
but my proc pentiumD 930 is should be 1.36
but it is checked out at 1.18v with cpuz and others program
