I’m fully Apple HomeKit bar one Mijia wifi plug. Using motion, contact, vibration, smoke, water sensors; light switches, plugs, led bulbs and strips.

My friend uses Alexa with Philips Hue bridge, bulbs and Bluesound multi room speakers + Echo Dots but no light switches nor sensors.

Hello, currently i planing smart home for my near complete house.. i plan to get 小米小爱同学 so probably i will go to xiaomi/aqara path.. my question is i search around i only found those smart switch are china plug... is there any smart switch(type-G/3pin) which can control by xiaomi app?

QUOTE(Fubar20 @ Feb 22 2019, 06:12 PM)
Need to check what brand you going for the 4 items.
If choose Xiaomi, then go the Siri path.
If choose other brands, make sure got support for Alexa or Google Home.
Have fun.  thumbup.gif

Xiaomi stuff can control using siri? me and my wife are using ios that would be great.. can i only control xiaomi stuff(including all those led bed lamp, curtain bind etc) with siri itself without 小米小爱同学? Does the xiaomi you mentioned including aqara product??

List i want to do,
1) smart switch for lighting/fans
2) smart plug for some elctronics
3) smart switch/plug for air con
4) motion sensor lights on walk path
5) curtain bind

can all those my wish list to be done with only single smart home assistant?

You mean a 3 pin smart plug? Don't think Xiaomi make those. Can try use a Tuya based 3 pin smart plug with energy monitoring below RM50.

I have zero Xiaomi products except my phone.  biggrin.gif
I think most of those in your list can be controlled with Siri. The Xiaomi experts will point you the right way.

can tuya link together with xiaomi assistant? mind share which brand of 3 pin smart plug you using??

Thanks. First time I’ve heard of it. Interesting product.

For UK plugs, I have Belkin Wemo. Does not work with HomeKit unless I buy the Wemo HomeKit bridge. No plans to do that. Sonoff has U.K. plugs. They can work with HomeKit with 3rd party software.

My stuff are Xiaomi, Aqara and Koogeek. The HomeKit compatible ones. Except one Mi Wifi plug which I bought wrongly. Can still make it work with Siri Shortcuts and the Mi Home app.
*
Ahh thanks.. mean for now i cant only use 1 home assistant to control all my things.. quite troublesome dont have uk plug that work with mi home app... using those plug converter with xiaomi smart plug good idea?

Why don't you use Xiaomi IR controller since you are using Xiaomi products?
Don't think can use UK 3 plug for aircon control. Socket type also different.

Ahh this a great idea.. i never come across this product.. will go look into this.. thank you!!

Hi all, i spent 1 whole week read back 70 pages and got some idea on making home smart.
Can sifu here give some comment on my ideas to see if is workable or not.
My new house will go thru renovation 2 months later and i will pull neutral line to all the switches.

Living Room
1)gateway
2)aqara 2 gang with neutral x2 (living downlight, dining downlight, balcony, walk way)
3)door sensor on balcony door
4)xiaomi air purifier 2s (automatic turn on when close balcony door)
5)yeelight lightstrip on L box
6)IR remote/xiaomi aircon companion (pls see question below)

Master bedroom
1)aqara 2 gang with neutral x1 (downlight, another gang spare)
2)yeelight bedlamp
3)xiaomi wireless switch (close all light from the house, and dim yeelight bedlamp)
4)IR remote/xiaomi aircon companion (pls see question below)
5)door sensor (door open after 7pm will turn on the walkway light)
6)bathroom - yeelight smartbulb + motion sensor

bedroom 2 & bedroom 3
1)aqara 2 gang with neutral x1 (downlight, another gang spare)

common bathroom
1)yeelight smartbulb + motion sensor

kitchen
1)yeelight smartbulb + motion sensor
2)smoke detector

Main door
1)loock classic 2s (open living room light after 7pm, deactivate security and xiaomi cam)
2)xiaomi cam
3)xiaomi wireless switch (close all light from the house, activate security and xiaomi cam)
4)door porch yeelight bulb (open from 7pm to 7am)

Questions
1)eyeing on aqara gateway. Reason for choosing aqara want to try homekit, hey siri to switch off light. I saw @idoblu said that aqara gateway might not support everything available in mi home app. Is this still true for now? Can aqara gateway support all those device i would like to use above?

QUOTE(idoblu @ Feb 24 2019, 07:17 PM)
Can. Im using iOS.
The difference is that Mijia hub can add everything under the Xiaomi umbrella
Aqara hub can only connect to Aqara stuff and not everything can work in Home Kit
and to further complicate things, there are two types of Aqara hub out there that does different things

Switches are for lights only. Some here successfully connect to ceiling fan as well but I dont see why they wanna do that.
*
2)IR remote/xiaomi aircon companion i am very confused bout this 2 item. The more i ask the seller the more i confused. Which 1 should i get? From the info i get from taobao seller, the IR remote are not able to set specific timing to switch on/off for IOS user. Only the aircon companion able to do that. If i get the aircon companion, can the aircon companion learn the IR signal of my fan?
Things i want to do
a)automatic switch off aircon on 3am and switch on the fan
b)able to remotely switch on the aircon before i reach home

3)Anyone in here fix any loock smart lock before? Reason of choose this instead of mijia smart lock because this have auto lock feature.

Thanks in advanced all sifu!!

1. i think okay now. just give it a try. its only RM150 for the hub. no good dun like just change to mijia hub. i dun have aqara hub but want to try too
2. actually both can use timer to on/off the aircon but i just tested mine, i wasnt able to make the IR remote do that but it works for my fan. The AC companion i can make it on/off. The IR remote actually can transmit better IR signals from top and sides. The AC companion is only from the sides. Since our aircon mounted high above, the AC Companion needs to be angled for the IR signals to reach the aircon. But I cant seem to control everything on my aircon with the IR remote. I selected panasonic but somehow its missing something. You can also use your aircon internal timer to turn off at 3am. If compare the two, I would still buy the IR remote because easy to plug in a USB cable and easy placement. The AC companion needs a different power socket which you have to buy from china.
3. are you sure the Loock have auto-lock? any video that shows this?
*
2. mean IR remote totally cannot switch on/off the aircon? Ya i could use the timer for aircon to turn off.. but in order to remotely turn on the aircon before i reach home, i think no choice i have to get aircon companion.. thanks for helping me test out!! The AC companion needs a different power socket can this plug in to universal socket?

3. yes the new model classic 2s can. if you can read chinese

Can turn on/off but I couldn’t get it to on/off using timer. The function is there but it’s not working. You can remotely turn in on/off. Maybe it’s my settings

AC companion cannot plug into universal socket, it’s a different size plug so no way. I think don’t go this route.

btw i saw the loock selling at shopee - and they can provide installation

I've been eyeing Loock's smart lock. Let me your review for the smart lock when you start using it. I'm still considering which to buy: Touch, Touch2, T1 Pro, P3 all these have Zigbee 3.0 support.
*
can i know why u consider touch series? touch series not compatible with mijia..

Those are the series that have zigbee, they uses the Loock's app. But I just checked with the customer service, loock's app might not work in our region, so they suggested classic 2 instead. So I'll need to re-consider everything again, plus to look at other brand.
*
yea.. 1 tips for you, touch series dont use actual C grade mortise lock.. classic 2s yes..

if you want to have zigbee version of smart lock.. looks at aqara s2 or s2 pro.. zigbee enabled and use actual C grade mortise lock...

Planning to buy xiaomi smart devices for home later, anyone can recommend if devices for Malaysia server or China server better? Or basically it's the same? hmm.gif
*
china server will have more alot more devices you able to add for home compare to malaysia server.

i just renovated my house early this year and so far i got 40+ devices from xiaomi in my mi home apps.

for those automation u set in mi home app will not have any lagging no matter you on malaysia server or china server cause it run locally within ur hub.

the laggy part is you wish to control/monitor thru mi home apps. it just need some delay when the apps is starting, after it load properly then no more laggy.

After do some surveys am planning to use some devices below after move in new house:
1. CCTV (XiaoMi MJSXJ03CM & XiaoMi MJSXJ09CM)
2. Aqara wall switches (is there any switches from Aqara which can turn it on through phone but also able to turn it on manually?)
3. Mi gateway V2 / Mi gateway V3 / Aqara hub (not really sure if should use V3 since it's latest version because it seems like the alarm in beep sound is definitely smaller than any alarm sound which can be produce by V2/Aqara hub hmm.gif)
4. Mi wifi range extender pro (optional, only get it if wifi coverage weak)
5. Mijia smart door lock push-pull ver (has been struggling between Samsung and XiaoMi, choose XiaoMi because saw quite many complaint on Samsung Smart Doorlock Apps)
6. Motion sensors & Door and window sensors (either XiaoMi or Aqara brand)

Perhaps some sifus can provide some suggestions/opinions/experience regarding devices above, thanks smile.gif
*
1. CCTV im using dafang and xiaofang
2. aqara switches can.. both old model and d1 model
3. im using aqara hub because of homekit.. never really use the alarm feature
5. i using loock classic 2s, more feature compare to n100 such as auto lock when close door
6. motion sensor suggest u get aqara cause come with light intensity sensor and the holder.. for door and window sensor just get xiaomi, work the same but cheaper.

Guys,

For motorised curtains, is there a need to cut/shorten the railings to fit the motor? Like in my case the railings extend to the edge of the wall.
*
usually for motorised curtains will have it own rail.. you cant use ur old rail and fit in the motor..
im using aqara curtains, when i buy the rail, the shop have aqara rail/xiaomi b1 rail etc..

I see, both my curtain rails extend right up to the edge of the wall, so if I were to fix need to cut/shorten?

oh.. you will just need to tell the shop ur wall to wall measurement.. they will handle it for u...

the circle place is where u connect ur motor

Just research in HA forums like the thread here.

yah bro. internet down pun no problem. and the response/delay time really got different local vs over xiaomi/ewilink/tuya server when triggering the action/lights/switch  biggrin.gif
*
hello, have you try automation from mihome app before? If yes could you share the delay different?

Currently i using aqara hub connect to china mainland, i have one automation to switch off 5 x D1 3 gang and 4 x 2 gang, off air purifier those.. i use a wireless switch to trigger this automation. Usually when i press the wireless switch it would need like 3-5 seconds before the automation start and required 30 seconds- 1 min for the whole automation to complete.
Attached Image

i wondering am i setting the automation wrongly causing the delay, or it was meant to be for home->mi server->home.

Not sure if you have something similar running with rpi with hassio, if yes could you share the time delay?

Don't set to China region unless device is not supported. China region has slowest response if you are not in China.

Hassio is local connected, response time is almost immediately, usually less than 1 second.
*
no choice.. i got plenty of devices only available on china region.

wow < 1 second is really nice.. 1 second to trigger the automation or the whole process?

actually i been looking hassio documentation, i do have quite numbers of devices that doesnt not support by hassio which is why i still stuck with mihome.
1) aqara gateway
2) loock smart lock (bt)
