Hi guys , newbie Question. currently budgeting for my new house, is it setup smart home system required Consultant with their app or actually we can buy from TB for diy..?

it depends on what are you trying to achieve, you need fully automated or semi-automated? how many devices do you need to control or just simply lights and security?

you want cloud base or local controls too many directions. There should be a few companies start popping up with automation services but price can start from few k to 50k even more.

Hi, Is the broadlink IR+RF can be use to control auto gate? I tried google and youtube it but cannot find the exact requirement. maybe some of you have done it before ?

if your autogate have no rolling code then broadlink with same frequency 315hz will work, for dcmoto which is rolling code you need an alternative way using modules like sonoff or tuya to tap into the control box to send signal

one stupid question, is leaving the router on 24/7 at home safe? i always turn off my home router at night coz I am paranoid it feels heat up after few hours of usage

if you don't overclock it and keep it dust-free, it won't have an issue.

Is it I can buy the items ourselves to achieve fully auto? I have come across with few company, just wonder is it we really need their app to achieve so called different scenario? hmm.gif

My main is
1. Light,
2. Aircond
3. Curtain
4. Security and safety.

Xiaomi echo system can achieve most of your needs without much tinkering. Most of the forum members using this system i believe.
Other than that broadlink is one of the easiest, affordable solutions but lack of feedbacks for all the RF switches you need an alternative IP camera for monitoring.

Any cloud automation will feed data for those companies to mine, the good thing is china gov watching your door for you. brows.gif
